In a months time that answer may be different. I have yet to find a good job with my degree
This is my answer too. I'd probably just focus on music and work a bullshit job til it takes me somewhere, and if that fails I'd pick up a trade. Fuck college. Huge fuckin scam.

What kind of lucrative industry is one qualified to work in with a degree in philosophy millzy? Or, more specifically, what is the industry you've got into?

i'm in commercial printing. we're a small but rapidly growing company; we have a few facilities in a few states and one overseas. the career path that sounds the most interesting to me is political marketing. it's basically working with elected officials in helping publish their propaganda. i absolutely love the idea of dealing in bullshit for a living. it's an overtly twisted yet highly admirable expression of civic virtue. besides, someone's gotta do it. and the connections...
but that's just the tip of the iceberg. i also have about five years QA, training and management experience on the service end from my previous position. and my civil career ties in nicely with the position from a design and production standpoint. you not only have to understand service, but also how an immensely complicated design-based production facility works. stretching back to the 90s, my resume consists of nothing but translatable skills for a multitude of career paths that my company offers.
a philosophy degree is more than just a cherry on top of all of that real world experience. years of rigorous, formal exposure to world history, intellectual history, ethics, logic and just about the most tedious reading and writing you can do at an undergraduate level has given me an even broader set of skills to build on. i am an excellent communicator. you wouldn't believe how much value there is in just having a way with words. people often say how valuable it is to be good with numbers, and they are right. but that's just part of it. we still have to be able to talk to each other, because that's how things get done.
and then you have the "rounding out" at the more base level that pursuing a philosophy degree can bring about. having executives who know about the world, its history, its problems - especially problems with respect to ethics - generally leads to better leadership, and by that i mean better decision making for the sake of the whole. seeing the world in broader terms can lead to better leadership. being able to analyze arguments from all sides can lead to better leadership. understanding people can lead to better leadership. a philosophy degree is certainly not the only path to nurturing better leadership skills, but it can certainly provide a path for those it attracts.
and all of this is before professional school, which is definitely on the table from my impression. the faculty in my department also have my back. i have a lot of people behind me right now, and a lot to decide on, and even more going on than i'll care to prattle on about. things are good, and i believe they're about to get even better. and i couldn't have gotten here without college.

I would have not lost my cookies and stayed on my mess and finished my degree or switched it over. I may not be the same person I am today having learned a lot, but I might be potentially more stable and happier, who knows.

Man that's pretty fucking far out. You're basically working for 'the man'. The main cunts that make this world as shit as it is. I know the feeling cause so am I - my clients are some of the biggest banks in the world.
Thing is, you seem to be able to laugh at the bittersweet irony of it. I wish I could do that. ATM I just wanna get as far away from the heart of the beast as possible. It basically goes against EVERYTHING I stand for. Pays well though, I'll give it that.

Yeah I hear that man. I can see how it could come up useful in that regard. Thanks for taking the time to write that man, it explains a lot. Philosophy has always been a hobby for me, rather than something I could ever imagine fitting into the system. But I see how it could work now.

I would study the same but I would have taken more time to enjoy being a student and definitely go for a study delay.

I took 2 courses: Greenhouse Tech and Horticulture Tech.
If I could go back in time I'd take organic chemistry.
Might still go back for environmental protection and restoration.

Organic chemistry is hella boring. It's basically nothing but memorizing stuff.
