open air fruiting
    #23617306 - 09/06/16 07:43 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

I have 5 kramer cakes left over after spawning a mini monotub, I am currently trying to open air fruit them just for the hell of it....I've got knots so I should be getting some fruits popping up in the next few days

Is this a question or a statement lol?

Open air is always doable, doesn't even have to be super humid.  Just more humid than normal.

Just as long as you pay close attention to em and never let them dry out (which admittedly is difficult open air) should be a pretty good harvest.

What strain/variant?

That's what I read that made want to try it out.......and the fact that I was extremely stoned and didn't feel like digging out my sgfc and sterilizing the perlite.....

I havent made kramer cakes myself and I see he uses quite a bit of verm,
but I generally wouldn't open air fruit a small cake. if you do at least leave it in the jar, it could lose moisture and dry up realfast compared to a larger substrate.

They're in mini rounds I didn't pull them out at all, just cased them with a few tablespoons of coir/verm that I had left over from a mini mono I had thrown together a couple days prior....I mist pretty heavily in the am and once at lunch...

I thought about that....kinda like a grain dunk then just drain off excess....but so far they're still pretty heavy for as small as they are....I was worried they would dry too quickly in between mistings but after work I mist every few hours lightly until verm/coir is glistening .....so far so good! And if this shitty camera will take good enough pics I'll post once I have pins poppin :mushroom2:

Got quite a few knots on the sides......hopefully they won't be a problem in the future.....I'm only hoping for a couple g's dry per cake but would be stoked if I got more than that

If they are really dry, let it wick up water for a couple hours.  Itll help things greatly.

I know, pasty shared that with me on my first brf grow and I'll probably use bottom watering whenever I decide to fruit cakes
