if you have a monotub with substrate at field capasity you dont need to do anything. its set and forget, truly automated. remember the mycel is alive and creates heat and evaporation off the sub gives moist air, all this creates air movement in the tub and with holes in the tub everything goes automatically.

I see in your write up you aim for 98% RH, thats way too much and will just keep your fruits and cakes wet. mushrooms wants variation in RH.

like i said i love your creativity ....

buuuuut

just an opinion..

mushies are a natural awesomely complex yet simple thing.
throwing all the technology into it like that feels like
you are taking something away from how special they are.

no bad vibes towards you in any way. just my  :twocents:

you should just go for an automated grow shead.

Fuck, why stop there?  Why not automate an entire ecosystem?  Automated cows eating automated grass, shitting automated shit in your automated shit bed, which will be inoculated by robot arms (automatically), and then harvested by a some kind of automated mushroom scythe.

Then just create some automated drug-fueled robots to keep the demand high.  Like Bender, but psychedelic.

That was only half sarcasm.  Another small part of me really wants to see this succeed because fuck mother nature and the horse she rode in on.

Fuck yeah, a mushroom powered bender, when he burps rainbows shoot out. You need cameras and software able to detect when the beads of moisture has evaporated then remist just until they are glistening again, until that is created no automated chamber will beat a pair of eyeballs and a spray bottle.

I think it's got some potential if he collects data over a number of runs and compares it to see what he can improve on.  Technology's great if you know how to use it.

If you just want to grow some mushrooms, a proven method like the sgfc might work but if you like to innovate and have fun while you're doing it, more power to you.  Creativity is awesome.  Just don't expect the same results right away.

And if you fail..... :smbfacepalm:

you die

Op, use a sgfc, and just stick to the grow shed idea.

Hi. What a creative setup indeed. But it seems too complex for the job, too many moving parts in my opinion. With the addition of an ultrasonic humidifier, you could ditch those dangly DIY servo-vanes and only use controlled fans. And get much better FAE.

I see that you're using a DHT22 sensor. How it works for you ? Sensing humidity in the 80-100% range is tricky. On the paper the DHT22 seems to cut it, but i wonder how well it works in practice. They are better than DHT11, but are still cheap ass chinese sensors. I've bought 5 of them on alie and i'm in the process of benchmarking them against each other, with and without micropore tape on them (to keep water droplets off the capacitive substrate). So far they performed fine, but i'm still considering buying real industrial sensors.

I plan to use them in a Grow House (for outside ambient air, AC air output, GH ambient air, and substrate level - for calibration only).

Are you doing any data logging ? I planned to fit everything on a ESP8266 (control system, RTC, data logging, web API, ...), but I might throw a Linux board at it, for simplicity. I could then add a webcam or a cheap USB microscope, since my grow is at a remote location like yours.

This strange mushroom looks like a fused cluster. Please report back the weight of this thing :evil2:

I gotta say, it's insane how quickly mushrooms grow! Came home from work yesterday to find the mutant and another cake ready to pick.  I got 100g wet + change out of 2 cakes ...

... the mutant shroom was the only one on that cake, but was 25g on it's own.  Some of the other cakes are finally starting to fruit - they were bone dry from an original mistake in my setup (lesson learnt) but seem to have recovered quite well.

I see what you guys mean about "wet shrooms" - some of the ones I picked didn't look "pristine", but they looked better than some of the subs I've picked in the wild this season, so no biggie.  Something to fix for v2.

lol I will soon, don't worry.  And out of the ashes, a phoenix will rise and version 2.0 will be born  I'll wait till I've harvested all I can from my 8 cakes though.

p.s. I was confused before why there were so many naysayers here before - I thought psychedelics were meant to "enlighten" people, but then i figured it out - you guy's are testing me! Encouragement through reverse psychology - I love it! Shrooms really do enlighten people.  Cheers guys.  Looking fwd to sharing progress on my "unholy" fruiting chamber soon :mushroom2::cool:

eat that right now !!

nay saying because you can grow shrooms with all kinds of goofy setups
but a alot of people hate when they see someone going off course and
doing things that will effect the overall quality of mushies
when they have tried it all before.

i nay sayed cause i thought it looked like a fire hazard.

ps. i also thought you were making electric nazi super mushroom men.
