In-ear headphone recommendations.
    #23616904 - 09/06/16 03:04 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Would like to stay under $30 or so. I was using seinheiser cx300 II but they broke. Can I do better then those in that price range?

Just clean the ear wax out of your ears and stop blasting the damn music so loud!

Personally, I've found the fit of in-ear buds to be the most important factor. I think you'll need to try out a few pairs.

Honestly, not really. Regardless of what worthless audiophile trash will tell you, there's a pretty real limit as to what you're going to get out of in-ear headphones.
Those that you had are basically as good as in-ears are gonna get for thirty bucks and I'd buy another pair of them.

If you want good headphones be prepared to pay good money. I use custom moulded plugs on my motorbike, which double as in ear headphones, perfectly shaped to the shape of my inner ear:

http://acscustom.com/uk/product/acs-evoke-studio-custom/

You get what you pay for in this life. I've never had a pair of headphones that I've been able to wear more than an hour before they start hurting before these. Now, I can keep these fukers in for 8+ hours without a moment of discomfort.

Oh, and the sound quality is FUCKING AMAZING.

I think this is true to an extent. However, the most recent pair I bought were the Klipsch X4i that retailed about $190 and they were awful. I've gone through the Bose in-ear and a few pairs of beats and got rid of all those as well.

The best pair I've owned are the "Jays" (a-jay 3s), and they're cheap (maybe like 40-50 bucks)

is there a store you can try some on at? I always figured trying on in ear headphones would be pretty gross in a store. Maybe best buy?

Negative. Every retail outlet I can think of is inflexible on their policy of not putting shit in your ears.
They're also pretty iffy to accept returned earbuds if the packaging has been opened.

Pretty counterintuitive since so much of finding the "best" earbuds is the fit.

and to answer everyone else: I have some Sennheiser 280 cans I use most of the time, these in-ear headphones are just for working out, and quick little walks in between class. I dont need anything expensive or amazing, just was curious if there was any real difference in that price range.

I could totally see fit being the most important factor though.

There's really not a lot of difference in sound quality once you get out of the ~$80ish range for earbuds.
You're paying for brand prestige, novelty, or overstated claims of superior audio fidelity.

It's worth paying more for a good fit if you're someone who has to use buds regularly but otherwise fuck it, invest in some good over ear headphones instead. I'd say just buy another pair of what you had.

Yeah word, wish I could try some on. Wonder if I could buy a bunch of pairs online, and return all but the best fit. Kind of a dick move but amazon would likely accept the return

Well the Seinheieser CX300 II is bottom of the barrel already, anything less is shite

I'd look into Audio Technica or AKG, they tend to be a good value
In my opinion though, Seinheiser has been the best value on under $100 headphones

So personally I would either go with the CX300 II again, or spend more

Not sure about that, but I never spend a lot on earbuds so can't really comment

Its all about the over-ear cans, earbuds are just for working out and the like

Yeah exactly. I already have nice over the ear cans and an an amplifier. Not trying to spend a ton of money on something I use a few hours a week at the gym

I've been through a few pairs of ear buds. I use them a lot. Like to listen to music while I work but I also use them to cancel out some of the noise of the machines.

I currently use Skullcandy Ink'd. They're okay I guess. I haven't really noticed much of a difference in brands. They've all been relatively cheap pairs because I tend to get the cords caught on shit and fuck them up so I don't want to really put much money into them. To me they all seem to basically perform the same, I wouldn't really be going for earbuds if the audio quality was what I was looking for.

Most stores and retailers have a 30-day return policy. You just need to be vigilant about returning them.  But yeah, its kinda nasty.  I was at a kiosk once where a guy was letting people try earbuds on and disinfecting with alcohol and stuff in between.  Still gross.

The other thing I've sorta-kinda found is that lots of decent earbuds are moderately heavy, so they tend to fall out if you run. I still use the cheap apple earbuds for running.

Cheap sony earbuds get the job done if they don't need to be fantastic.

For working out I use blutooth earbuds, bit better for running and stuff.

I use the panasonic ones u can find on amazon. They sort of slip into your ear with a twist of the wrist but sit very comfortably
