Trich on substrate, mushrooms safe to eat?

Hello,
this is my first post and I'm nearing the end of my first grow! Just birthed my remaining surviving cakes! I have made all the nooby mistakes I could make, checking them too much, too tall jars, no glovebox etc. This has led me to lose 3/5 of my BRF jars and left me with two which fruited early and the mycellium stopped growing.
I birthed these 2 jars today which were around 80%-90% complete as they stopped growing, they had an earthy mushroom smell, nothing seemed alarming. On one of the cakes there was a small patch of trich situated on the uncolonized substrate which I washed off, I picked the largest fruits and left the pins and dunked the cakes. I have cut open one of the largest shrooms from the contaminated cake it is greyish inside:

Is this safe to eat? I don't want to lose all my shrooms with the time I've put into them! Can I put it into fruiting conditions and safely harvest the mushrooms to eat and get some to get a spore print from?
Thanks!

I dont know the science behind molds on subs... I DO KNOW never eat one with mold visibly on the shroomie.
i also know what my mind would do if i tried to eat one. extremely paranoid trip where im constantly thinking i might die or am about to die from moldy shrooms.

I think this statement is 100% true and I feel you but also is the worse kind of mindset in a way... sometimes you fuck up and you gotta throw out months of hard work. its like a bad breakup but you are better off in the end.

Thanks guys for the link and the advice! I've got a second fruiting container that I may fruit it in in another room, to prevent contamination. As I said I'm very new! Can I get a second opinion on the fruit? It looks mostly like bruising to me from cutting it open but a second opinion is always best!

It looks bruised, why don't you purposely repeat what you did and see if it bruised like that,
But I have a once or twice when my monos did contam with trich. I harvested and tossed

They have dried out a bit and I've just split them again (in quarters), the rest of the insides are fine, I think it's just bruising from cutting them open with a knife!

Those look like they needed way more fae and light?? I've picked shrooms from a moldy sub and they were good I just tossed out the ones with green scabs on them

I'd eat it. I haven't seen anything to suggest Trichoderma is poisonous or carcinogenic.
disagree regarding FAE and light, though. Those look like the panic fruits often sent up by the mycelium in response to Trichoderma.

My bad I've never seen those tall skinny fruits in trich subs only from lack of fae that's interesting to know

I used to grow with this guy who insisted we go with a 105-quart tub once. We did, and it went green right in the middle of it. So then, this guy insists he can cut the infected part out with a cup and it'll be okay. I tell him no, that's retarded, but he's really adamant so I let him try. Two days later the entire fucking tub is green. It was like 20 quarts of substrate and spawn combined--a fucking ton of green. And up from everywhere shoot these shitty little pencil mushrooms that this fucking guy wants to harvest in my fucking apartment. I was so pissed.

God, I wanted to. The only reason it was at my house is because I was watching his place when the pipes froze and busted and flooded his apartment, where there were like ten tubs going. I had to relocated what I couldn't hide from the plumbers and landlords. There was plenty of green water, but he was nowhere in sight.
But take it from me, having seen those things is no badge of honor. You only know what they look like if you ignored the (correct!!!) advice on here to get rid of anything green ASAP.

I believe that is an in-vitro fruit OP picked from the cake after birthing the cake out of the jar (before dunking it) and not a fruit that grew in a FC. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

That's exactly what happened! They're in the fruiting chamber now in another room, if I see any signs of more trich then I'll dump the lot and start the whole process again ... just being optimistic, but I know my efforts are probably fruitless (pun intended...).
They started fruiting early, in-vitro, so I birthed them when the myc stopped growing only to find one of them had a tiny spot of green on the uncolonized substrate which I washed off.
Let's see what happens, I'll keep this thread updated!

I believe it was just bruising, I cut them again and they were fine inside, then they blued again (I was a bit rough the knife first time around...!)

If you saw trich once, you'll probably see it again. Trich mycelium is colored white, green color you saw were its' spores (if not another contaminant). Hope it turns out fine. Good luck .)

Just an update! It's been almost a week now and I've got my first flush coming through, I haven't seen any more signs of the trich and the cakes are pinning and one shroom is even ready to pick, I'm going to leave it a bit longer to print from though! Let's just see what the next few days brings as the more pins are coming through daily!
The blue hue is just bluing from humidity problems as my sprayer broke, but I've sorted it now. I've tested it with a cotton bud and it didn't come off so it's unlikely to be a contaminate!
