I have been growing these cakes for about 4-5 weeks and while one finally reach 100% colonization . the other still a 1/4 spot on the bottom that was not. Today I got fed up and birthed them both. they where each really firm and super light and dry. Which leads me to believe there was no more moister in the cakes to grow thus them lagging. They are currently dunked in zip lock bags full of water for the next 24 hrs.
Then I will roll in vem and put into my SGFC. My question is I had another cake with more of the bottom that is not colonized its super lagged. I haven't seen any growth in about a week. should I birth it and do the same?
I don't think anymore growing in the Jar will happen.

Temp range in my apartment is 74-79 degrees. The jars sit on a counter in my kitchen that gets plenty of light. I don't bother them much so the top layer of substrate does not shift.

-------------------- Don't like researching posts? Read this! . Also, if you're new and your posts contain the words: Humidifer, incubator, air-stone, or heater, then you need to read and UTFSE before asking people to review your setup. OR... You should be cultivating reptiles and fish, not mushrooms.

Im very new to this myself so take what i say with a grain of salt and wait for someone more experienced to verify but i found the jars i let colonize on the shelf in a fluctuating temp took way longer than the ones i kept at a controlled 78-80 Even when i moved them from the shelf to the controlled temp area when i had the space the colonization didnt speed up.
