Man are reishi's fast! Day 11 and they are already fully colonized! I will keep this thread updated with their progress. Can't wait to see these beautiful fruits!

Two questions- how long should I consolidate for? And do you recommend still leaving part of the top of the bag on?

Leave the whole bag on until they get close to the tops. Unless you want conks, then cut slits. Im surprised your bags didn't self inflate during colonization, or did you deflate them?

Nope I haven't deflated it- it has stayed the same since spawning.

Sweet, thanks again Casual! Like I said on the Maitake thread- I got used to fighting top pinning of oysters. Didn't even think about it with these guys. Also didn't know invitro was the way to go- think I'll let them grow up a few inches then cut the bag just because conchs are so beautiful.

Still no invitro fruiting with the bag looking like this- think I'm going to cut it open and put it in my GH. Any suggestions on how I should cut the bag with it in this state?

Yeah should definitely have pins by now. If it were me think I would just follow and cut above the mycelium. If the plastic seperates easily just peel it away a little to get some air. If not it will grow out.

Thought I'd update this with what has transpired since. Went on vacation so stuck it outside. No fruits no pins no nothing and then a ton of green, so I just put it in my contam pile and just a couple weeks ago I found it to be Fruiting.
When I first found it

A few days later

Then it started growing into itself

Upon further observation I noticed it actually enveloping contaminated areas

It continues to consume the green. Incredible.

This one looks like it's about to conch all the way around.

When I got home tonight

This process has been mindblowing to watch.

Never thought about it being algae- but it certainly appeared to act as a mold when it first showed up.

it almost does look like algae. its got that seaweed green color going on. youd think if it was trich it wouldnt fruit. as trich piggybacks the fruits and merks them.

Hmmm- I mean part of the sub looks colonized though. Maybe I'll see if I can throw some on Agar and see if I can figure it out. But that does give me an idea- casing with algae/seaweed? Hmmmmm

Everything you see exists together in a delicate balance. As king, you need to understand that balance and respect all the creatures, from the crawling ant to the leaping antelope. ... When we die, our bodies become the grass, and the antelope eat the grass. And so we are all connected in the great Circle of Life.

Here's tonight- the one hit the bag and just shot out in each direction at a pretty good speed. This looks like it has no intention of slowing Down.

Thanks Ziran! I'm about to drop 3 different Reishi- all to oats/Milo mix. I'll start a thread for them.
