Super New, Need fruit chamber help
    #23614329 - 09/05/16 10:26 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Hi everyone, I'm new here but have been reading and watching alot about growing. Now I've seen some folks use clean rooms to mini greenhouses to get humididty and fruits. I don't have those options. Honestly the best conditions I can do, would be a heat lamp on a shelf :frown:
I'm going to buy some pre sanitized jars for inoculation, as I don't have a pressure cooker..
I was going to use Damions Tek, with a sterilite tote, coir, verm, and a garbage bag. But after colonization, I'm not sure what to do for a fruting chamber. I can buy a small reptile thermometer, and a spray bottle to mist..but I am unable to get all this fancy gear to help fruit.
Does anyone have advice on how I can create a simple cheap fruiting chamber that can fit in a small space?
Thanks alot!!

This is more about the container than the grow so i made the subcategory equipment.
They were done under the same conditions as usual but stacked ontop of eachother...
Saves hella space.

Drill holes so that the bottom of each hole is the depth you want your substrate at, you need to add some holes at the top too, however many will work.
With the clear tubs i used two black trashbag's to block light from the sides of the tub and act as a tray.

Your jars are fully colonized and its time to spawn.
Assuming your using my easy coir tek you already have the substrate measured out for each tub in each bucket your using...
dump it all in and even it out a little.

I like to use a fork to get the WBS out of the jars
dump all but a quart onto your substrate and mix it in well, then cut excess trashbag away.

Now use your last quart as a "frosting layer"
Spread it evenly then mix into the top inch or so of substrate.

Obviously nothing fancy, but a good tool the level.
I use it to scrape the top of the substrate and make it level as it can get.

I then pack the holes loosely with polyfil and put a blanket over them for colonization.
Here's a closeup of how the substrate looks before putting lid on, and the whole fineshed tub.

harvest pics.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask..
credit goes to all of you who's supplied good information to this board and especially ohm and mm who played a good role in this method of fruiting.
Some other great monotub links using clear bins, you might wanna refer to:

People tend to make life more complicated than it can be, we all have different size holes and air currents, all with great results.
Tweak it to your preforation and you'll end up with wonderful results like these, works great with any strain.

Peace :peace:

Ps just buy a pc, 70$ is enough, it will be worth it.

If you're unable to get what you need, I would honestly wait.

Premade jars or bags are generally a vector for failure, and you need to at least have an FC, like a mini monotub if you're starting very small.  You can buy a suitable tub at almost any dollar store, and you'll need a little polyfil stuffing.  Also, heat lamp isn't gonna work.  You'll need a daylight spectrum 6500k color temperature CFL.

Is there an easy way to make my own jars? I'll never have a pressure cooker, but what about boiling? Like easy canning tomatoes lol
Birdseed sounds a bit complicated.

Try looking up PF tek.  Those can be done without a pressure cooker.

Also, no on the grow light.  You're not growing a plant.  You're cultivating a fungus.  Just go to lowes or a regular dollar store and go to the lighting section and find a Fluorescent bulb marked "daylight".  Turn it around and it'll tell you the color temperature, you need one as close to 6500k at possible.  Over 5000k will work, but not as well.

you can use a large stock pot to steam pf jars. its not ideal but i did that
for a year or two before santa brought me my aa915 PC(thanks mom!)

id steam a pf jar for like at least 2hours.

you can also make a mini mono tub. like this one!

i got three of these right now. take up less room than my wifes shoe collection.
also ambient lighting works for all areas of growth. this was an old setup on a shelf in front of a window. worked just fine.

skip the noobish hydrometer.
