Fruiting chambers have high humidity to keep the mushrooms and mycelium from drying out. The mushrooms expand using water stored in cakes/substrate.

While the substrate is a source of moisture i must say the key to large fruits is not necessarily osmosis from humidity but misting. I find the biggest fruits even from small amounts of sub with added external moisture from misting.

ok OP, you have to elaborate more on this,
water vapor does not directly contribute to osmosis, but the water from misting will get into the substrate and then might get into the mushroom........by osmosis
to get the basics right read this:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Osmosis
to understand how osmosis contributes to fungal growth read this:

http://forestry.about.com/od/treephysiology/p/tree_water.htm
"Water mostly enters a tree through the roots by osmosis and any dissolved mineral nutrients will travel with it upward through the inner bark's xylem (using capillary action) and into the leaves. "
The water in the substrate must be absorbed into the mycelium by Osmosis.
Cells can expand through osmosis.
Thanks.

i assume the pressure that causes hyphal growth in nature is from a storm
once the pressure causes hyphal growth. natural timiing occurs and the fruitbody grows until a feeling of the point of the greatest win occurs and the veil is torn and the mushroom than drops spores when the wind is greatest
thank you for that article.

osmosis and alkaloids?
Alkaloids and acids form salts of various strengths. These salts are usually freely soluble in water and ethanol and poorly soluble in most organic solvents. Exceptions include scopolamine hydrobromide, which is soluble in organic solvents, and the water-soluble quinine sulfate.
"myc-piss" is probably acidic. on my cake there is mycosis at the top of the cake where in the jar it was the bottom. it is yellow like urine and there is no hyphen growth where there is the yellow stain
perhaps in the center of the cake, the most mysterious part of the cake.. is where the myc piss turns into psilocybin and through osmosis travels to the fruit bodies where it becomes a natural defense as poison to predators who probably in nature, in the ancient days, ate mushrooms only once and never again ate them after being poisoned. the shaman who ate these mushrooms warned his tribe through leading by example, being witnessed with new spiritual energy.. ego death, through poison.. a new day...
this is all theoretical generated in my mind but i need you to make these seeds perfect by flowering.
i am providing you with seeds (these words, my posts, from my time and my life) and i expect cultivation of what i am feeding for the tree of knowledge to grow and flower
