Growing the rare Tarragon Oyster

Starting a new section for when my rare Tarragon Oyster (Pleurotus Eunosmus) vendor dowels arrive.

----
Firstly it will colonize and fruit at room temperature, with no cold shock required. As with all oysters, it likes hardwoods, paper, straw and so on.
It is a fast colonizer, taking only 7-14 days to complete. Standard fruit cropping for an oyster strain.
Not very attractive to flying insects. Unique flavour and smell.
----
I will be starting with expanding the vendor dowels to a WL Tek spawn run. Then after I will expand to a fruiting sized WL Tek substrate.
Updates coming soon.

Looks like a regular oyster to me is it just native to Europe? Tastes like tarragon? P. serotinus is the one that's actually greenish/orange I think, but supposedly not choice edible.

It grows in the UK only, not Europe. It tastes and smells like Tarragon. Its related to Golden oyster, its a tuber branching type.

Contacted the supplier. They won't ship to U.S. if anyone else was interested. Tarragon Oyster sounded pretty cool to me.

I'm sure some UK traders can grow some and send it out.

Are there any UK traders willing to trade for a wedge? I'm interested.

I have contacted a UK trader who also operates on ebay, on everyone's behalf. They use wild bird seeds which will be perfect for genetic variation.
I will notify you if they take on the strains.

Got my dowel spawn today, I am also verifying the high quality vendor. So well packaged, even comes with instructions and fact sheets.

Off to make a spawn substrate, and inoculate.

Nice looking set of plugs! You can just transfer bits of mycelium to agar. Refrigerate the plugs and use as master for a looong time.
