Wbs question.. things have changed since last time..

So ive got about 5 successful grows under my belt and have taken a few years off and have decided to give it another go around.
Anyway went to pick up a few bags of WBS last night got home and opened one and it is probably 50% cracked corn and sunflower seeds. This is something ive never delt with using this wbs.
So first question is what kind of wbs could i get that doesnt have the cracked corn in it. Ive started my attempt to gwt rye berries but id rather not go that route and stick to what i know.
I wouldnt be wasting anyones time if i hadnt been doing my research but i cant seem to find anything recent.

I'm not sure of a good source of WBS recently but getting other grains is easier than wiping your ass these days, so long as you don't live in a remote undeveloped country or something.
http://www.tractorsupply.com/en/store/producers-pridereg%3B-oats-50-lb http://www.triplecrownfeed.com/products/racing-formulations/whole-race-horse-feed-oats/
Oats are good.

Can even just pick up some wheat from wal mart. May have to order it to the store but that doesn't cost anything. They sell it as emergency food. I've used it and it works.

Most grains can be made to work, and most are easy as balls to prep, so, don't feel too fenced in with WBS if it's a pain to locate the good stuff.

I personally don't like WBS much. It's dirty. I love rye though. Never tried oats but will be soon, trying the prep in your sig. I found a whole foods store nearby so now I think I'm in love.

Do not.. buy grain from there. Your grain should be less than 50 cents a pound. As per those links, 50lbs can be about 12-14$. I bought my first few rounds of grain from there because that's all I could find but, it's worth it to find a tractor supply and drive to it, or just order from them online. Buying horse food won't put you on a list or anything.

Found a 10lb bag of rye for 12 bucks. For the convenience, I don't mind the a few extra bucks. Plus it's cheaper than shipping on the same amount.
It's labeled and sold as malting rye.

Yeah, I'll look into feed stores too. Maybe I can find a better option

If I had to pay over a dollar per pound of grain I might seriously consider putting cultivation on the back burner. To each their own.

I just looked up a tractor supply and fortunately there is one nearby. Going to go there tomorrow and see what kind of goodies they have

They do have WBS and rye and shit sometimes I think too. Wheat and oats are pretty common though.

Well does the prep work the same? As in getting the moisture content the same with most grains? Or does every different grain require a different prep?

They can be slightly different but most of them can be looked up or easily figured out by doing the fingernail test. Cleave it in half, look at the inside. Solid white, still needs more time. Half gray half white, real close, the instant it's totally gray, it's perfect. Takes about a 30 minute simmer or so to get there. Or you can use the oat tek in my sig.

I live downtown. i got shit for grains(and brains) so i stick to the finch seed wbs from lowes. it has more millet than id like but it works and is free of cracked corn. most of the sfs rises to the surface during the soak so you just scoop it out if you prefer.
id order grains online but i work/live in da hood so having 20+ packages delivered attracts attention but not from the police.. if you catch my drift.

I've been using Pennington's Classic WBS so far. It costs $20 for a 40lb bag at Walmart. It has sunflower seeds, but no cracked corn. It has worked fine thus far.
I'm tempted to try oats though, for the lower cost. But I've read that they have more problems with endospores. Especially this time of year.

so looked into this.. and this is the exact stuff they used to put into the red cheap bag stuff i used to use. thanks for the input had i been patient and walked down the isle a little further i would have seen it.
Back to business.. just like most i hate change.. even more when it makes things harder.. i tried to use some of the seed with CC... FUCK that. sticky as hell and cant get the moisture content right...
