Aquatic allies
    #2315194 - 02/08/04 06:10 PM (20 years, 1 month ago)

I was just wondering if anyone's heard of any aquatic plants with psychoactive properties (or any other interesting properties like a painkiller or stimulant). It appears to be that either aquatic plants lack some element necessary towards that kind of evolution or that there simply hasnt been enough research done. If anyone can enlighten me as to this issue please do so!

There is a far greater number of land plants than aquatic plants. Greater competitiona and biodiversity are probably the explanation you're looking for.

"A nation's hope of lasting peace cannot be firmly based upon any race in armaments but rather upon just relations and honest understanding with all other nations...

Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed... The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. We pay for a single fighter with a half million bushels of wheat. We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people..."

Sweet flag is supposedly hallucinogenic. Sacred Lotus is also an ethnobotanical. Phalaris survives in water. There are also fish that are psychoactive.
