This article got me into thinking about it. It's Windows and full of garbage besides what you want to read about.
Anyway what are your top three?
Super Mario, Civ, all of them, and Layers of fear for me.

Final Fantasy (any pre- X part 2), Diablo 2 and DOTA.
I've put 1000s of hours in each of those games. Clocked up over 6k hours on DOTA.
Civ is a damn good shout too and I still take a notion to play a game of it every now n then. Civ6 will be the next game I get.
Mario Kart double dash was awesome too. The others are great but the boosting was a sweet lil extra element.

Good choices. I've devoted probably a half year in time spent on the Civ series. And the new one looks great. Fuck it, I love it.
New Final Fantasy coming out but I'm guessing you knew that already.

Tyrian, great shoot em up
Total Annihilation. Whilst supreme commander (and planetary annihilation) are technically superior, none captured me as much as this Master RTS did. It's the sort of game that yes, you can do a tank rush, or nukes, or massive stompy krogoth robots that destroy everything you throw at it, or, you could build lots of air transports and try to steal the enemy commander. At which point you can:
1: Fly him around the enemy base and wait for anti air to shoot him down, boom!
2: Fly him to your base and shoot him down with your AA, boom!
3: Fly him to a safe spot and ctrl+d, for five seconds of "fuck you troll", boom!
4: Fly him to a killy spot where you've make a ring of dragon's teeth walls and laser turrets set to hold fire. Drop him safely in the middle, select those turrets and set them to fire at will.
The game had crawling bombs which were really slow, people pretty soon figured out you could get air transports to pick them up and turn them into flying bombs. Fun times.
I've played this FPS more than any other, even doom (the original). I was tempted to put titanfall, because that's a competative FPS, but now killing floor 2 has pvp, and I'm having a lot of fun playing that.
It's one of the few FPS games where melee is viable as your enemy is lots of bitey/slashy zombies, so a sledgehammer with a shotgun shell on it becomes a viable tatic.

Nothing terribly wrong with those games but top 3 games of all tie ? Ffs DotA comes from a custom game on Warcraft 3 , world of Warcraft is terrible and there's a monthly subscription how shitty... and halo ? Don't get me started on those Xbox fanboys

Whats wrong with a game evolving from a a wc3 mod? It more or less created a new genre of game which has huge tournaments and loads of copycats these days. I used to play the original patches of it too on wc3.

Yea if you played wc3 you would know the vast majority of DotA players were bad at normal regular ladder /bnet games. People got into DotA because it's easier to control 1 unit than control several, you are all cop outs .. there is very little skill involved . I hate DotA players with a passion... And I rarely hate anything .
