Thoughts on aerial spraying operations to combat Zika in United States

As most of you probably know, in the United States, they are using planes across the nation to spray banned chemicals. This is an effort to cut the mosquito population down. It is also bad for the environment, and destroying massive amounts of honey bees.
What are your thoughts on this issue? I'm sure most of you do not want Ziga. Do you think there are other ways we could combat this? Maybe we could spray something natural, or launch ground teams on foot eliminating sources of mosquitoes (and trespassing on private properties). Both of those ideas do not sound that good to me, but that's all I've got. Also people are living in other nations, with mosquito born diseases. Many people die as well.
I hope this is the correct forum. It seemed like it on the description of the forums on shroomery. Idk if I would call this a political discussion.

Star anise essential oil is said to be more effective against mosquito larva than DEET

hmm, I should look into that. I guess we would have to determine how expensive/readily available the essential oil is compared to the amount of deet/naled needed to treat an area. I am also under the assumption that "naled" is being used for these sprayings not "deet". I know you didn't say deet was used, just comparing. We would also have to see what else star anise essential oil could harm/kill, other than mosquito larva. Good idea though, I would love to hear more input on this subject.

One simple thing anyone can do is not leave any pools of stagnant water laying around. Water bowls for pets or even a styrofoam cup on the side of the road. The invasive Aedes mosquitoes that carry such viruses as zika do not need very much water at all to reproduce.

Well goodluck with that one. I feel like most americans, are not going to do this. Idk how long it takes a mosquito to raise up in water, but anyone with outdoor pets needs to keep them a constant water supply, especially in the summer. I guess it could be one of those flowing water machines.
On another note, I've got an interesting cure to this whole zike mosquito problem! How to go about it is the big issue. The govt will probably never accept it either. They are probably just happy about some kind of financial deal with the naled. It would be difficult to pull off, just like your idea of removing standing water.
Dragonflies and hornets, eat mosquitoes. There are particular species of dragonflies that are extremely good at catching the buggers. Now we would just need to mass breed dragonflies, and have them everywhere. They live as a larvae or whatever for a few years, and are only flying adults for a few weeks at the end of their life. The larvae eats mosquitoes in water, and the adult eats them straight out of the air or off your arm! Plus these things can't sting the shit out of you, and you can't be allergic to them like hornets.
The problem is, I can't figure out how you would try to mass breed dragonflies. People talk about attracting them to your area. Some articles talk about setting up a body of water with certain plants etc. They say you can remove the larvae from other bodies of water, or buy them at certain bait shops. If you wanted to improve the dragonfly population nationwide, you would not want to just remove them from somewhere else in the USA. We would ideally want to mass breed more larvae.

Yes possible and interesting. You can't be coughed on and get it though. You don't have to have unprotected sex with sketchy people. The whole Zika through sex thing is strange. They don't know exactly how long it stays in semen, but it stays in semen longer than vaginal fluids, urine, or blood. So you can transmit it easier if you're a man. It only stays in the semen for a period of time though, and I believe it's only a few months or less after contracting the virus. That last sentence is not completely proven yet though.

Yeah I definitely think zika doesn't sound good though. I'm just kind of upset that my country has gotten to a point that they use airplanes that already pollute the environment, and spray naled all over the nation. There has to be another way, and if there is, why are we not doing it?

~15-18 years ago, in Nashville, TN, the city was using public works funds and trucks to spray various chemicals to combat mosquito populations in both residential and commercial areas. after a campaign or two, and i think some threatened lawsuits, the city shutdown the program

Somewhere in Asia? You've got me lost, but I bet it's either in asia or africa. How did they fuck Zika in the ass? I've heard some strains of the virus don't really cause any negative side effects.

Wherever mosquitos of any kind are highly prevalent you might not know it but they do aerial spraying's already. There's a lot of conspiracy that mostly turns out to be total bullshit. Not saying they couldn't use this for something else I'm saying currently they don't. Polluting the environment? Since when has the government gave a fuck about that. Very sad. But I'd rather have aerial spraying for a desease that has been 100% proven to cause birth defects in the first trimester of pregnancy.

I agree the govt. sadly doesn't care about the environment, makes me not proud to be an american. I totally disagree with your comment though. I know there's another way. I read about somewhere in Asia they had a problem with mosquito's, and introduced a bunch of a certain species of dragonfly to deal with it. There are probably other ways, that I can't even think of. The shit they spray in the air, will probably do something minor to your baby, or you. Zika also won't cause birth defects in a baby that's conceived, after the virus has left the bloodstream. Which is a short period of time. So basically the woman has to be prego when she first catches the zika virus, to have complications.

As I said in the first trimester of pregnancy. Which is after the baby is concieved trimester=3 months of pregnancy with that being said there's obviously 3 trimester for a total of 9 months. Here in Florida I heard about them releasing some type of insect can't remember which one. I agree that spraying is completely wrong and there are other ways. I just feel like it isn't too much to worry about. Same goes for the zika virus I don't believe it should be labeled as an epidemic it is not that big of a deal when thoroughly researched. The only thing that worries me is how long it could stay in sperm. Although one creates trillions of new sperm every day so not quite sure if it's possible the virus could stay in the genetic information for a sperm cell. This also hasn't been proven.

Yeah I looked into the sperm thing, and it's not proven at all like you said. It still seems to be the general concensus that it stays in the sperm longer, but still only a few months. Atleast you think spraying's wrong and there are other ways. I'm worried about the spraying, and all of the other stuff going on that destroys the environment and our health.
