Worth getting in the gov's database to save some $ in Washington?

Hallo!
Consciousness explorer/screenwriter/director/actor/teacher/misc. creative here. After lurking for a while, I finally emerge from the digital shadows with a post asking anyone's thoughts on plant medicine and The Man.
I've just wrapped a graduate degree in the UK and am set to move back to Washington State at the end of the month. While living there previously I had an signed letter from my doctor that allowed medical marijuana for my Crohns Disease, which right before I left (circa August 2015) began to suddenly be rejected because it didn't have an expiration date. Bastards snuck that right up on me. Here we are a year later, and I dropped my doctor a message asking if he could do a new note complete with an expiration date. His response was that, as far as he knew, a note was no longer necessary. Some research later, it seems that he's mostly right - except there are shops that DO sell what they label as "medical marijuana."
The Washington State Department of Health talks about a "medical marijuana authorization" form (http://www.doh.wa.gov/YouandYourFamily/Marijuana/MedicalMarijuana) that a doctor can fill out, which leads to a card complete with my picture and puts my name in a database.
Plus side: no tax on purchases at shops and the legal ability to grow up to 4 plants at home. Downside: the government could very easily access said database, which... well, who knows.
Question: worth it?
Thanks very much!
P.S. Here are two other sources with more info about the current laws and system - A short-ish blog post dated July 1st 2016: https://cannabisnowmagazine.com/cannabis/washingtons-new-medical-marijuana-system And this much longer post that was written before the new laws passed, but as they now have: http://www.thestranger.com/blogs/slog/2015/04/16/22058725/drastic-changes-are-coming-to-washington-states-medical-marijuana-industry

It is up to you to decide if it is worth it. It's a silly question to ask us.

Well what are they going to do? Round up all the medical marijuana card holders and put them in detention camps?
I don't know the laws in Washington, though I'm from Colorado. The benefits of a medical license over just using the recreational shops was a pretty big one. If you have a legitimate medical concern that marijuana helps, I'd go for the lower prices available to you for it.
But like California said, it's largely up to you. If you don't want to be on a list, don't. I don't think there is any harm in it.

Sweet deal, thanks!
Probably just being too paranoid, but the second opinions are still much appreciated.

Just quit the weed and become a gun enthusiast. You can still shotgun beers and smoke dope recreationally on the down low from time to time.

That new court ruling really bugs me.
In my opinion, as far as legal weed goes, if you can get it with out a prescription, all the better. I am just a little myself, so anything to stay off the books.
