Rez-effect vs Casing plain colonized grain
    #23603698 - 09/02/16 04:41 AM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Hello evverybody,
So I was thinking, what will give more mushies?
I have 1700ml tupperwares that I will be using for the growing of Psilocybe Cubensis, Would it be better to fill 1500ml of rye berries from a 100% colonized jar and case it with straight vermiculite or fill it with 750ml of colonized grain mixed with 750ml of vermiculite (rez-effect) and then case it with verm. I hope y'all understand the point. 100%grain Vs. 50-50% grain-verm.I will be using 3 tupperwares either way because it's what fits in my FC.
Salutes.

The more water retention in your sub, the better. Just casing grains wouldn't give you the nice flushes you want because it just can't hold enough water.
I vote Rez effect

:whathesaid:

I certainly wouldn't mix together with vermiculite though.

Get some coirim. Its vert easy to prep and is a solid bulk substrate. You can spawn to coir in those trays..

Yeah I know about Coir bulk, but I tried and failed miserably, bacteria in all 8 trays, so before trying again I wanna get some experience growing and then start climbing up on teks. So between the to options above y'all would say the rez-effect?

Why not trying coir until you get it right? Eventually you will get great results.

You can sterilize coir too due to the lack of beneficial bacteria.

Coir is very good for cubes, wish i had some coir.

What about the original question, because I'm thinking that 100% grain is more food than 50-50% grain-verm.
@Tuhdoww gave me a good answer at the beginning but I would like to hear more opinions about it please.
