Are you sure they are all pan cyans?
A few of those look like they are bruising a rust color

What else could those be? I'm so confused by those. I saw some myself. Some one told me they were an edible look-alike. Could it be some sort of chemical reaction?

There are tons of panaeolus species out there, only some are worth picking for their psilocybin.
When i go looking for pans i see a million pan antillarum which are not active.
If they dont blue like crazy i dont pick them.

Dont let a rust color bruising throw you off. I am not sure if all blue bruising species can bruise a rust color...I know in these particular species will do that. The most important things to identifiers of a species are the things asked for when you ask for an identity. Habitat, location, gills, stem, bruise, spore print, they say scent so I guess scent as well but my smeller doesn't always work real well.
If I'm ever in question I ALWAYS spore print. An few older gentlemen I once knew who have since passed told me if you get a spore print...if it's a dark purple, brown, or black you can be positive it is edible (not active, edible)...never eat red, white, orange, basically stay away from all other spore print colors. They were speaking directly of being able to consume mushrooms for survival because they literally lived off the land for years. Never having homes until they eventually made make shift houses in the woods. Great people but just not the type of people who enjoyed our societal ways. I hope this has been somewhat helpful but always wait for an identifier to identify for you in here if you aren't sure. There are some of the best around on here!
The question of whether all blue bruising mushrooms could potentially bruise rust is a better question for one of the mods! I only found out this species could from a previous identification request (check out my first thread ever to see this with your own eyes).

If you read the forums about other pans, some say the pan ants are precursors for the ones you are wanting. I find pan ants all the time but I've grown accustomed to not picking them. From my experience they grow slightly bigger and faster than the pans cyans I find and also although they look identical the cap is slightly (just slightly) I wanna use the work slimier even tho that's a poor word to use...when I slide my finger over the cap of a pans ant I feel a lot less resistance than I do a pan cyan...I'm not sure the correct word for that or if that is just my experience... They do look soooo similar though your right!

Check out the first thread I made on this forum sometime earlier this year. You see some rust color bruising and Alan Rockefeller answers someone's question of whether they are all pans cyans with a simple "yes, they are all pans cyans"

Do not accept such broad rules of thumb, which may be applied to discern particular species. For exaple, Inocybe, Conocybe, Cortinarius and Hebeloma have spores that are brown. Poisonous Leratiomyces can have dark purple brown spores, and even some Agaricus are pretty toxic.

I agree but they were teaching me lessons on survival. If your lost in the woods and it has been a couple days without food... That's when this type of information might become useful. I was just pointing out that your odds are a lot better if a particular mushroom being edible if the print is that color. I definitely wouldn't just eat one based off the print alone unless I was in a bad situation like that. These old men also pointed out crickets are a great source of nutrition if your in a survival situation but sometimes a mushroom is a lot easier to get down lol! Like I said, always check with an identifier before eating if you aren't sure and have that luxury

brown would be a terrible spore print color to go to if you were in a survival situation and didn't know the species you were collecting. get those grubs and crickets and just about every other bug first.
the last thing you want to be in a survival scenario is dead...or just massively dehydrated due to being fungus sick.

Well these guys lived over 30 years of their lives without much dealings with outside humanity living in the woods in tents so they must have been doing something right! It wasn't until their health severely deteriorated that they needed to move in with family. Possibly where I was in North Georgia there weren't a lot of poisonness species with brown prints? I'm not entirely sure as I'm not an expert but It is really good to know to stay away from Browns if I'm in that situation. Luckily tho I don't live there anymore and there are no woods to worry anymore. My biggest problem in survival here would be avoiding the friggin alligators lmao!

Also look for Pleurotus spp. in a survival situation.

I saw pans this morning that were already completely blue before I touched them. They looked kind of wilted.

Where is the rust colour? They look like obvious Pan. cyans to me. It's not a native where I am, but I don't believe the stem is always a pure white colour. Right?
