!st grow attempt at King and Blue Oysters
    #23602525 - 09/01/16 08:03 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

King and Blue Oysters

When should i put a light up on a timer for fruiting? I welcome all solid advice and ideas...thank you.

Robert

--------------------
I have picked wild mushrooms for over 30 yrs. I built a grow room for mushrooms in the early 90's and grew oyster mushrooms with great success for the first attempt. Out of 20 bales i only had to throw 3 out because of contamination. Now i want to grow again. I currently have King and Blue oyster mushrooms in the GC. The mycelium is going nuts. It is growing through the cardboard boxes i used. I also have some in plastic bins and one container growing on cardboard. In two containers the mycelium is like cotton and over an inch tall....

Light is actually beneficial at all stages of growth from inoculation to fruiting.

I set my lights on a 12/12 timer as do many people. Works great for my blue oysters so far.

Listen to the other people, I was wrong.

temperature needs to get low to pin and for best fruits - 15 Celcius at least

Not true. See here page 48. Also testing indicates both King and Golden prefer dark colonizing.
You don't get light inside the gound or inside a tree, light is for fruiting.
