Looks good to me too. Next time try to get the grain without corn. It often creates a sticky mess that makes things hard to deal with. That looks fine though.

That's mycelium alright .) Don't get impatient and shake the jars before 30% - 40% colonization, and don't shake them more than once until they're fully colonized. That just slows down the progress.

I find 20-25% acceptable if you shake it particularly well. It's a little more effective with the small grain size of the millet and milo than with larger grains like rye or oats.

Thanks for clearing that up, I use wheat as grain; didn't know there was a difference.

It's not exact, but there's some math to the # of inoc points in a given volume, and how far apart that leads to them being once mixed up. Anywhere from 20-40% colonized, depending on the grain size, is usually perfect. I use wheat as well, great stuff.

Sorry not trying to steal thread here but got curious; so the less inoc points, earlier you should shake your grains?

The more inoc points, the earlier you can get away with shaking the grains. The less inoculation points, the longer. So for WBS/millet, maybe around 20-25% is good. For rye, oats, larger wheat, maybe around 30-40%.
I can never wait for 40% though, I get a little anxious to shake at that stage.

So I'm using pint and a half wide mouth jars. Is that going to be a problem? I was considering fruiting from these jars in a shotgun chamber. What's the consensus on this plan?

For grains? Nah. Wide mouth anything is fine. Don't fruit from those jars though, they're way too tall if I recall. I mean you could, but you might lose a little yield over just spawning them to coir in a tub. There's eventually a point of diminishing returns when the surface area is outmatched by the total volume. Not that surface area is everything, some jar grows do great, I just think the dimensions of pint and half jars are a little tall.

For a few reasons. I've used shotgun in the past for oysters and had success, I've never used a monotub before, and am somewhat apprehensive about having to lay out more cash. I already have everything for a shotgun chamber. That being said I am open to hearing arguments for a monotub over a shotgun.

It's significantly better for anything with a flat substrate since trays tend to block the perlite from being able to evaporate and create humidity. Less maintenance, easier to make.. eh. I don't really benefit from selling it so that's all I can think of right this instant.
Oh, here's a reason.
