The Chemical imbalance of the law

While reading up on the illinois compiled statutes today i noticed somthing. there is no distinction between psilocybn and psilocybn containing mushrooms.
the law specifically names both psilocin and psilocybn, and any container therein.
which would mean that:
50 grams of fresh mushrooms, equal to ~3 doses and 50 grams of pure psilocybn at 10 miligrams a dose =5000 doses
according to the law these are the same offenses. and there fore are subject to the same laws regulations, and prison sentances.
does this seem aboslutely absurd to anyone else, it says to me that if you are a good enough drug manufacturer/chemist to extract pure substance you can get less jail time then billy bob who picked 5 big mushrooms of a local field.

In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption" "People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

If that is what the law sais, that is what the law is.
-------------------- Penalties against drug use should not be more damaging to an individual than the use of the drug itself. Nowhere is this more clear than in the laws against the possession of marijuana and mushrooms in private for personal use.

Well, that was a pointless answer.
He was addressing the fact that the drug laws are ludicrous, even when you get past the idea that they exist at all. Next you'll be telling us that the government is in control because that's how things should be, and is infallible, and there's a Divine Right of Kings.

Thats insane... I'm always amazed at how the legislature can pass laws classing a non-narcotic or a 'lite' drug with soem of the most harmful or even moreso as your example points out a personal sized dose right up with trafficking quantity..
