What is this white fuzz? Are these safe to use?

Hey everyone! Glad to be joining the community here, but right now I'm in a tough spot. SWIM is working on their first grow. Due to having being out of town, the pf tek jars that were used fruited in vitro, but with promising results. After the first flush, the fresh shrooms had to be stored for 48 hours while waiting for a food dehydrator to be delivered. They were kept in a small container with some desiccate. Upon inspection today, the shrooms have acquired a thick white fuzz on the outside (You'll see some dark specks in the photo but a lot of that is just vermiculite embedded from fruiting in vitro). Are they done for? They still smell like fresh mushrooms but look a little sketchy (See photo). Can anyone tell me if these are still safe to dehydrate and use, or if the fuzz should be scraped off? I'm really hoping the grow didn't get this far only to crash and burn at the very end.

That's quite common and known as fuzzy feet. It's extra mycelium that starts growing around the bases of mushrooms when the environment is too humid. When you stored them wet, there was even less fresh air, so the mycelium started growing up the stems. Could be mold, but if it doesn't smell and doesn't change colors in the dehydrator I'd eat them.

Not mold. Definitely fuzzy feet. Also you said it's from an environment too humid. While you're partially right and is directly linked to the reason, the reason why there's fuzzy feet is because of high co2 levels (low fae).
Low fae does cause increased humidity, but a shroom that's been affected because of high humidity always looks wrinkly with pumpkin caps. Not excessive fuzzy feet tho with good enough Fae.
