Couple of questions if I may
    #23600163 - 09/01/16 07:17 AM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Okay so I bought some WBS and the lady told me as well as it saying on the bag that there was no corn, yet there was. Can I use the kind with the corn in it or toss it and get the kind without? It's no big deal.

Also, I bought some black kow manure in the beginning of July. It's been opened once and has sat ever since. Would it be okay to use now?

Is there a noticeable difference between using manure versus coir and verm? Or no?

corn probably isnt gonna be as effective as WBS for your mushies. If you have the means I would just get more without the corn

It's WBS with cracked corn in it. Not just straight cor, still no good? Wanted a definite answer as people seem iffy from what I've read

Wbs with corn is fine. Check out foomans wbs tek.

There are differences between manure and coir. Try both and see what you like.

Or try both together and some other things

What kind of differences? I'll gladly try them out. Was just wondering if there was better quality, quantity, or whatever from using either or.

Also, can anyone tell me whether it's okay to use the black kow manure that's been sitting for about two months or more now? Or should I get a new bag of it

I think it would be fine to use after two months. I think a new bag is 5$ so if youre really nervous get a new one.

If you research a little youll find debated differences between coir/verm and manure. People do it both ways with success, just pick one and start.

Coir/verm is more easy for the beginner, but i pasturized on the stove my first grow with success
many people like using the bucket tek for coir/verm, making the prep less intensive/idiot-proof.

It'll be the first go around for me and I figured there'd be better results using manure as it seemed more complicated but I will just test and see what I like

The "better" results from manure are not significant enough to warrant the extra work of prepping it.

Ive found wbs w/corn to be tricky because the starch in the corn
can give you unwanted clumps.

although check my lame journal. my jars of wbs/corn jars colonized hella
fast where my 'normal' wbs jars are going much slower. go figure:confused:

don't soak the WBS too long, and the corn wont break down and create a starchy mess. As for the manure: those bags of manure sit on pallets for months before shipping to stores or even selling from stores. Some stores will sell through faster than others, but most likely that manure sat far longer than the 2 months you have had it. Pasteurize it and use it. I like the bucket tek.
