you make a great point. Life is beautiful for a small number of people. But we never see them.

Damn, dude makes a positive thread on how he feels (even a drug induced state of mind/being is good!) and I see a bunch of nihilistic, negative, jaded, cynical BS! WTF is wrong? Why focus on the negative when one can at least try to see positive and make ones life better/more enjoyable? Those people in the very bad situations probably have at least one time in their lives that was/is happy, and I believe that. There is nothing wrong with positive thinking/actions in the face of adversity. If one has no hope what else is there? Why be so glum? Don't be such a Debbie downer!

Thank you Tyrannicalrex.

I saw him an a could of euphoria that encompassed the good AND bad so I urged him to embrace and forgive the bad that casts a shadow on this world, to make him soar higher still. once you are beyond that point you truly LEVELLED UP and once he comes down off his high part of him would stay lefelled up because he would have ended some of his grudges with the world.

Meanwhile the people with the grudges against the world try to drag him down.

Level Up SunnyD  :awepreciation:

Its worth another butt rocket. Hell its worth a couple or five more if you can truly make peace with the ugly side of life. You will NOT be the same. You will come out of that session a more exalted person if you manage to make that peace.

Look beyond the Light. Look beyond the Darkness. Look at What's the Master of both these puppets.

Re: Life is so beautiful [Re: PatrickKn]

I found some American life cards.  However first of all I should say that these are not at all representative of humanity.  These are from the tiniest sliver of the deck.  They represent the pinnacle of humanity, some of the only cultures where it is even possible to delude people into thinking human life was anything more than a miserable struggle to survive.

Ok, here we go.  This one is an American girl.  She was kind of hot, for a few years at least.  Then she squeezed put some kids and got all fat and nasty.  She and her redneck husband fought a lot and constantly struggled to make ends meet.  Still though, like a good deluded human being she kept telling herself that life was good.  Even when her mother died, she clung to the illusion.  Then her kid got sick.  Then she got breast cancer and endure miserable medical treaments.  She survived, but only continued to get older, fatter and eventually sick again.  As a forgotten old lady, alone most of the time she would sometimes imagine being a girl again with all her hopes and dreams.  Yet she was wise enough now to realize that such things are unrealistic.  Nobody really gets to live their dreams.  Most people just grow up to spend their lives toiling away and raising the next generation.  Same as it has always been.  Then she died and was mostly forgotten.

OK, let me pull another card.  This card is for a man.  Once upon a time he was a football star.  Those days were long ago.  Then he was an overweight middle aged, middle manager at a giant corporation.  He has always worked had and towed the company line.  For a pat on the back and a fancy title he had sold his soul the corporate gods.  While his kids grew up he worked and worked, hoping someday to win the financial freedom that was promised to him.  He was just about to retire and finally do all the things he had never had a chance to do, but then he had a heart attack and died.

Hmm, here is another corporate slave.  And another, and another.  Wow, mos of these American cards are actually for corporate slaves.  These are all the people that did what was expected of them. The worked hard and followed the rules of society.  They bought the things that the TV said would make them happy.  Thanks to eating vast quantities of shit, by age 40 most of them were hopeless hooked into a medical system that secretly wanted them to be sick.

Of course somewhere at the tops of the corporate and soical ladders sat a few people who benefited from all of this.  They worked the system in subtle ways so that most people never even realized that they were being primed from kindergarten for their careers of service to corporate American.

Yep, here in America, the so called land of the free, we wake up almost every single day and drag ourselves to places we don't really want to go to do shit that never seems to bring us any closer to financial freedom.  We are as much a slave to our overlords and the peasants were to their rulers.  Sure we have replaced the fields with offices buildings, but the game remains the same as it ever was.

Even in the land of opportunumanity humanity is little more than a stuggle to survive, with just enough worthwhile moments throw in to keep most people from forfeiting the game.  The vast majority of people will be nothing more than forgotten peons, slowly growing older, uglier, sicker and more dependant.

But wait, there are a few more cards.  This one is the star card.  It shows a person who through some miracle won a measure of freedom and success.  However don't be fooled.  These cards are only throw in to keep you playing.  Make no mistake, being the star cards is actually unobtainable by almost everyone including you.  Try all you want, in ten more years you'll be begging for that steady office job.

And last of all the joker.  This one actually believes that a few moments of feeling good can make up for a lifetime of servitude and a slow descent into old age, ill health, and forgotten dreams.  The Joker actually sometimes thinks that most people actually enjoy their jobs and aren't simply stuck for money.  The joker probably still thinks that despite some ups and downs things usually work out in the end.

But that is ok.  In fact most of us start out as the Joker with a head all full of hopes and dreams.  It takes some time watching good people fall victim to circumstances, it takes a few decades of corporate service to realize that life is at least as likely to kick you in the balls as it is to help you out.

What the Joker doesn't yet realize is that despite an abundance of optimism now, they too will watch most of their hopes and dreams pass by unrealized.  They don't know their true will someday become the naggy bitch that they can't afford to leave.  The kids that seem so cute at first become the reason you suck corporate dick for health insurance, until it is time to go deeper into debt paying for them to also become well trained servants.

The Joker manages to ignore the fact that they too will grow old, unhealthy, and probably turn onto a fat slob.  They don't like to think about what it will feel like to get sick and realize that the medical system isn't even trying to make them better, but just wants them as a slave.

The Joker is sometimes even silly enough to think that it won't happen to them, that they aren't one little mistake, microorganism, or genetic twist away from cruel and unrelenting suffering.

Because that is what it really means to be a human being.  We toil away doing whatever we need to do in order to survive.  At any time we are one small step away from merciless pain and suffering.  Our hopes and dreams are nothing but a carrot on a stick that keeps up from waking up to the cruel reality of our half animal existence.

This world is a fucking shithole.  Rather than polishing our turds, at some point we should stop playing with shit, and start asking hard questions about life like:

"Is this really all there is?"

"Am I truly nothing but this lowly human animal?"

It is only after we can answers those questions that we can know that while human life is shit, life at large may not need to be.

What exactly is life about then? You do a good job of making it out to be so bad. But what is a good and happy life?

As for ill people, don't be so harsh, those people are suffering because of the way they were born, or environmental effects which they cannot control...

Your post is very pessimistic, but highlights reality.

I want to level up. I want to enjoy each moment and live it, because the world  and nature are beautiful.

Maybe it is a dose of realism.  Maybe instead of making the best of what I'd call shit, we should just call it shit and them build from there.

In my opinion taking an honest look at what this world really is can serve as a springboard into and understanding of the larger things at play.

Every time someone makes the best of shit it makes me want to scream, "Don't settle for shit!  Ask fucking why, and don't stop asking until you get your answers."

What you are, why all of this is really here, why this world can never be perfect, and why that doesn't even have to matter.  These things are understandable, but someone has to stop playing in the shit and start asking about it.

Consider that life is a game of sorts.  Too often people simply play the game accepting whatever life deals, when in reality they ought to be learning how the game works and becoming more in control of the reality around them.  In fact one of the reasons life must be imperfect is so that people eventually get sick of it and start asking questions.

This isn't all there is, but someone won't ever really know that if they keep shrugging off the wake up calls life is putting out.  That is why every time I hear people talking positive I feel compelled to point out that life is kind of shitty.  It isn't to bring people down, but rather to shatter the illusions that keep them search for happiness here without growing spiritually.

Ultimately we do help shape our reality, and this shitty little world is largely what we have settled for.  So stop settling and start calling it out.  "Shit, shit, shit, shit, tolerable, shit, shit."  That is how we essentially cast our votes and throw our influence around.  However it doesn't work if everyone just makes the best of things.

Whatever! I will enjoy this life as much as possible and this attitude/poison you spew will not bring me down! I am a bit bitter and cynical as well, but mostly positive and I will be a nurse soon. I will be contributing to society instead of condemning it! Hope you find a "happy place" sometime in your life!

I think my other response does a good job of answering some of those questions.  For example instead of making the best of situations, I think sick people should be pissed off and want answers from life.  Maybe there are reasons why things have to be the way they are.  By finding those answers it sheds light on a great deal about what we are, what this world is, and how everything really works.

You also ask about a happy life.  Happy lives are for players of the game, people that don't need to grow and simply embrace what life brings.  However in the case of humanity we are woefully behind where we should be interms of spiritual evolution.  That means less happy, happy, fun time and more "Wake the fuck up and look at your reality you fucking pigs!  You help create this shit hole now start learning how things really work and straighting things out before your really fuck yourselves.  We can't step all over your creaion, it is your reality to mold, but we can scream at you to maybe stop settling for such shit and evolve a little bit."

Or, well, something like that.

If you understand these kinds of things you can eventually find some measure of peace, knowing that the world is what people make of it, what it needs to be, and the only way it can be. However this acceptance is far from what most human beings would consider happy.

I know that you won't believe me, but try to understand that by taking satisfaction from helping solve problems it essentially says to life, "Keep bringing me more problems to solve."  It is a part of the way in which life tries to provide us with the experiences we desire.

Then, on the bed you have a person that seems perfectly accepting of whatever shit life gives them.  Low and behold human life continues to be full of miserable, shitty experiences.  It is only doing what we ask of it after all.  This is how life actually works.

But anyway, I'm done. I've said my peice, preached the gospel of discontent, talked about why a healthy amount of disatisfaction can be important.  Perhaps a little seed of an ideas stuck in someone's mind, or perhaps not.

Please return to you normal human experiences.  It is a fine game and very believable, so enjoy it.

I understood what you meant in the first post, I am just on an incline for now and will be for a while. I know how shitty life can be and I understand what your message is, but one can be happy or try at least. I ask why all the time. I am not "happy" all the time. BUT, I will strive to ask why and make my surroundings better for me and the people around me/that I come in contact with. Nursing will provide me and those I care for with something other than negativity mostly, but I know there will be darkness and negatives in it. I got you! I hear you! But GOD DAMN (if you believe or not)! Liven up just a bit, please?
