Drying chants question
    #23598426 - 08/31/16 06:10 PM (7 years, 4 months ago)

Super noob here. I have just started hunting shrooms recently and I was wondering how golden chanterelles taste after drying them out, how long I would be able to store them and when I go to cook them if I would reconstitute them by soaking first?

Thanks in advance for helping a dude out.

I usually see people suggest frying and freezing them for storage vs drying.

For most wild mushrooms, I like to cook them a little first then freeze.

Heat a little oil in a pan, put your mushrooms in. Sautee until the mushrooms have released their moisture and have taken it back up again (or it has evaporated). Divide into portions and freeze in ziplock bags.

Chants are awesome done this way, and retain alot of their taste.
