Ego replacement with psychedelics?

I just recently stumbled upon reading about a cognitive component of high dose psychedelic trips that I had not ever before heard of called ego replacement
This is what it said: "Ego replacement can be described as the perception of one's sense of self becoming attributed with another. This can manifest in a number of ways such as (but not limited to) another human, animal, or alien consciousness. This delusion is extremely convincing and can result in shifts of perspective as well as delusions of grandeur. This effect is a form of ego dysmorphia and is most common during dissociative psychosis, but is also manifested during ego death on high dose psychedelics."
Have any of you ever had this effect on a high dose psychedelic before? What was it like and on what substance did it occur? Do you think it's more likely to happen on certain psychedelics over others?

Shamans do that for thousands of years. Modern psychology just doesn't like different experiences.m why they do not embrace psycadelics.
I think in other ways people absorb and enact aspects of other people's personality.

I've had this happen a couple times on high doses of mushrooms (10g+) and once on a sub-breakthrough dose of DMT. For me, my consciousness rapidly shifted from person to person around the globe. I can remember several different locations around the world, looking out through the eyes of different people. The first time it was completely disorienting, resulting in a complete loss of any hold on reality I had. Who am I? Where am I? What am I? The subsequent experiences were far more interesting as I understood what was happening and just rolled with it. They have probably been my most treasured, most meaningful experiences in my life this far and have totally reshaped my personal world-view and my basic understanding of self.

That sounds amazing man. I never pictured that happening with DMT but I guess that makes sense. I wonder if there's any psychedelic out there more likely than others to give this effect. I have been reading some LSD experiences of this happening so maybe it's most likely to happen with Lucy but I'm sure if the dose is high enough and the set is right it can happen on really any traditional psychedelic.

frequently with salvia, selves spawn off and seem to be autonomously motivated, like fully self aware bits of attitude. usually human and often internal but sometimes outside objects become animated and intentioned.

On a measly 1.5 grams of cubes in silent darkness, my conscientiousness possessed an alien being on an alien spaceship that was going to war.

Wow so much of what you have wrote I have experienced before. I have had that thing with the languages and I've heard other people talk about the cold or shivering feeling and I know exactly what it feels because I've been in terribly cold environments on shrooms before and it sucks. It's like the one thing shrooms makes a living hell is the cold weather or it's just the one thing that doesn't go well with it.
I've also heard of a lot of people forgetting genders while on ayahuasca and mushrooms. Very very common effect

Hello Guys! I am glad that I finally found my way here. Knowing The Shroomery for a while now, this is the thread that triggered me so hard that I finally had to sign up. I am looking forward to some quality time of mutual learning and sharing.
So, let's get to it. It's about Ego-Replacement. Just as you, AuroraBorealis, I stumbled across this definition on the psychonaut.wiki. As I read the description, I finally felt understood. I had one of these experiences one week ago. All this time I was wondering... how can you put this experience into words? Was it my first Ego Death maybe? It shares some similarities at least. Anyhow, I didn't find it 100% accurate. With these doubts in mind, I figured that it just couldn't be, because they normally seem to occure during higher dose trips. I tripped my 5th time, and as usual so far, I took 1-2 gram. This time: 1,5 (I also smoked a J later in the trip, where I had this marvelous experience).
So, what did the experience look like? I did the shrooms with a very good friend of mine and his girlfriend. After maybe 3-4 hours of eating our friends, we started to have more and more heavily syncronising experiences (making music, having roleplays together, communicating without words etc). This led to an experience of total unity with a) these 2 and b) the universe in general. For now, I will focus on the human part. It shouldn't really matter since the 2 also were the universe to me, lol.
We found ourselves in something I would call a "needs-loop", meaning that everyone was pretty much repeating what he needs or wants to do right no, without realising that we are turning in circles all the time. As I finally figured that out, I started to help these 2 first with their problems before solving mine after. I pretty much felt like Jesus Christ in this moment, which was also pretty cool. At this point, i began to care less and less for my own good. I was freezing and starving, but I just flooded away in total bliss and helped the 2 everytime their were kinda "stuck". Nothing really mattered anymore. It was heaven (til' I began to be sad und began to cry pretty damn heavy, but this is another story).
So... yeah. I think Ego-Replacement with something that felt like unity was pretty much happening there. But I still had a certain sense of self, so I am not so sure on this whole thing. What do you think?
P.S: I just want to say that it's pretty amazing how you can see the mushroom's wisdom in the webside-design of pages about psychedelics. So many handy little gimmicks!

on heavy oral dmt trips i 100% believe i am an alien.
and ive had episodes of God complex. It never really goes away tbh but ive learned to interpret it in a healthy manner and i actually welcome it.
I think its good for self esteem if anything. i was watching these motivational videos on youtube and one line that stuck with me was "It is very important for you to believe that you are The One." just try not to get carried away too easy to be compromised by your own sense of power and impressiveness. we all need to believe there is something special about us i think :3
like this should be the beginning of everyone's story
