Very ready, probably one of the few people I know to be happy the rains are starting to arrive and summer is ending. Lol. Bring on the gray weather and fall hunting and camping.

Completely unsuccessful last year and this spring. I've been waiting all year for this fall. Any tips for n00bs like me besides check more mulch more often? On the coast, should one look at the intersections of the trees and dune grass? In parks, how far off trail should one look?

Coast stay out of the pines like 20 feet from the wood line. If you're seeing hypholoma and mycena then you're in the wrong spot but keep walking. Sometimes there's breaks in the pines that have kind of a swampish area from overflow or they get a bit of grass and non-coniferous trees. Or like an old harbor came ashore 30 years ago and sedge has now grown over and around it. Those are sweet pockets. Look where the maintenance crews cut out all the brambles and where those piles sit.
You can follow game and vehicle trails. Go where other people wouldn't. If you see signs of people you might as well leave. You can army crawl through the grass if you're fit or go to areas in which you can open up the top of the grass and shuffle through. Usually like 5 or 10 feet off vehicle trails. I like to check a 40 foot radius around my finds. Where there's one there are more.

Look for these breaks in the grass. I know it ain't much but it shows what I mean.

And shuffle around a little...

Move a few things out of the way..

Leave these little guys and come back in a week..

Spots like this have always been good to me without fail. Start working your way out..

And don't forget to watch your toes...

And that ^ is why the hunter formerly known as Dys is my hero.
Any tips for the wooded park areas? I hear (from you) that they're often sooner than the coast. Sure feels like mushroom weather is nigh.
Thanks Adden!!!

My advise for the wooded park area's is be careful. don't get hemmed up. easy to do when your eyes are to the ground. Also. Respect peoples private property. There on to us don't be fool. They no whats up. Practice being inconspicuous. You will have a much better time. Locals attitudes are A. Fucking dope fiend hippies. or B. Thats our shit, don't touch. And C. Indifferent to your face but cop callers as soon as you part ways. (Pertains to the coast)
