Spawn bag took weeks to begin colonizing, but is showing growth?

I had a leftover spawn bag from my last grow kit, so I was hoping to use it to start my next mono. However, after inoculation, I didn't see any mycelial growth at all, for weeks. (Kept between about 70 and 76 degrees during that time.) The grains look unhealthy (kinda mushy and chalky looking), so honestly I'm about this close to pitching it as it is. That said, within about the last week or so, I started seeing some growth on the backside of the bag near one of the inoc points, definitely bacterial though. I'm reasonably confident that this bag isn't worth keeping; it's most likely going to be a wet, bacterial mess, but I figured I would post and get a second opinion.
Worth trying, or should I just save myself time and trouble?

You used a spore syringe to innoc that? Not wise for bags. I would shake it anyways for lolz but not count on it.
Try colonizing a quart jar, then grain to grain to a bag or two.

I've just ordered a pressure cooker in fact! I plan on doing my next grow from scratch, hopefully trying out some agar work and using wedges in oats instead of MS. I just had hoped to use up this last bag sitting around rather than letting it go to waste, although that might be what happens anyway. It did come with a SHIP (you can kinda see it in pic 3, on the right edge of the bag), and I was pretty confident in my sterile technique this time around, but it could be that either the port failed or the grain was simply contaminated to begin with. I didn't have a ton of success with this vendor's product (2 of 3 bags contammed), but it's also very likely I'm making my own mistakes as a beginner. I was really excited to order my PC so I can eliminate some of those variables for my next project.

As i said spore syringe to spawn bag is not a good method at all, i would count on it working 0% of the time.
Glad to hear youll start agar and doing it yourself. Starting a few grain masters every week or two will have you rolling.. good luck

You can always let it colonize, put it in a mini monotub and cross your fingers while you work on your DIY grow.
or
You could just open a door to a universe where all three bags were contam free.
Keep us updated on that bag.

Haha, I really like that second option there. A universe with no contams sounds real nice.
I think I'll go ahead and give it a shake and put it in a mini tub. Sounds like a fun experiment. And who knows? I might even get a couple of shrooms out of it.

Wait until like 50% colonization to shake, then put it in the tub at 100% colonization. The mycelium work better when together so you don't want to shake too early.

What should I do if colonization doesn't continue? Or, will I ultimately see 50% if I give the bag enough time?

If it doesn't fully colonize then toss it. If you opened the bag before 100% colonization then the uncolonized seeds will be attacked by all the nasties in the air. If the substrate is fully colonized then the nasties have nothing to eat/infect.

Honestly, that bag is probably fucked. I think it will it will stall.
Grain needs to be inoculated pretty much immediately. If it is left over grain from a kit and you used spores you are pretty much guaranteed a shit ton of bacteria. That's why it has a mushy, chalky appearance.

Ahhh, that's where I fucked up then. I had not realized it had such a short shelf life. I would just as soon not waste my sub on it then. I think I won't pitch it yet; now that growth has started, I'm interested in seeing where it goes. Still, I'm sure you're right about it stalling. I can't say with certainty when it actually started doing something (I stopped checking on it on day 12), so there's also the possibility that it already HAS stalled. Ah well. On to better things!
