Tricho looks sunburned?
    #23592423 - 08/30/16 04:48 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

I took that cutting from a friend of mine, he told me is peruvianus.
Looks like is sunburned, but as i understand from a conversation i had with him, it didnt recieve that much sun, also sounds resonable to me because the cutting is pretty thin.
What do you guys really think?

Plus one end looks like having weird color, brownish and a weird spot that looks to me like a big fat root coming out, the other end looks very healty, should i root it from the "healthy" end?

here some pics that i think they cover everything i said.

the cutting is fine. dunno if it is sunburn or just corking, it is irrelevant, it's fine, and will root well.

that thing you think is a big root coming out, it's brobably something different. I believe it was a new pup that was snapped out

Also the cut at the base is more fresh than the one at the top (ergo that's the base, cause it was cut more recently.) (just in case, it's the last photo , with your full hand visible

cactus have a right way to be placed, and you don't want to place it upside down of course.

but you can always try the log method. Just place it horizontally plan on soil, maybe sligly undeground( 3/4 of the log must be outside.) then wait for roots to form and for pups to grow from random spots on all the lenght

Thanks bro!

I was thinking to try log method, i never did it before, so it would be at least fun for me!

I need to find the right pot size for though.

P.S.

i am so sad i took it now summer here almost ends and soon enough i will have to water my cactus much less..

I have to ask, i know its not the right thread to do it but i dont know a better place right now.

I have only a soil mix ready for lophs, that there is a lot of limestone there, something like 1/3 of the mix, if i use that would be totally desaster for tricho?I mean because of the extra calcium..

I would try the log method if I were you I think it will root no problem they are very very resilient. I placed this cutting last year in shitty soil  in the garden. and it's doing just fine.

Thats purslane? Man i wondered what they were here and i dint know and i hacked them to pieces. And out of the ground a day later the leaves were not even wrinkled. Its rather succulent isnt it.

I kind of let it grow on its own, sometimes I hack it too cause it's too much. It grows between my san pedros, roses and datura and it can be quite invasive although it's a small plant it can be too much at some point. Like I said apparently it has lots of benefits but honestly I didn't indulge too much ...
