gabapentin and lucid dreams... WOW!
    #23575033 - 08/25/16 04:54 AM (7 years, 6 months ago)

so I occasionally dabble with gabapentin, but a lot of times I drink on it, usually just end up passing out into a dreamless sleep, or at least I don't remember any of it...

but the last 2 times, I've taken it completely sober, about an hour before I go to bed, 900 mgs...

and holy fucking shit... I've discovered this is one of the best lucid dream aids, if not THE best I've found so far... I just woke up after going to bed at around 9 pm, and I was having vivid, long lasting lucid dreams all night.. and they come on real easy.. any time I woke up from them, I could go right back in after I dozed off, right back to where I left off... this happened the last time I took it too... I'm actually blown away by this effect, wish I woulda discovered it sooner!

I thought maybe it was something else causing it, or just luck.. but I woke up and got out of bed just to hit up google and see if this is common, and sure as shit, it's actually pretty well known in the lucid dream community.

I mean these dreams are fucking epic, and soooo vivid :awesomenod:

anyhoo, I'm going back in, peace guys

let me rephrase that... sorry if that was harsh, I do apologize if it was...

if you're having lucid dreams... and they're still nightmarish... maybe learn some of the techniques of dream control?

there is a way out... easily, and that's waking up... but if you aren't lucid, I get it.. it's not a conscious option at the time... but at that point it's not a lucid dream either... it's just a nightmare...

now, if you are ACTUALLY lucid... and you're still having those nightmarish experiences... just remember... it's YOUR dream, and you CAN wake up... okay?...

better yet though, like I already mentioned, learn some dream control stuff... like dream spinning and shit like that.

if you're already familiar with this, I apologize, not trying come across as condescending or anything...

if you aren't familiar, I'll point you in the right direction

hey thats very nice of you, thanks; not condescending at all.

yeah it would be nice to learn how to dream better i guess but someone told me that these nightmares are just my mind and consciousness and body detoxifying on multiple levels; I hope that is the case. But still have the horrible nightmares. I feel like I ruined my consciousness for good and is a very scary thought.

yes if i could maybe have better dreams or maybe control my dreams or maybe have no dreams at all but instead deep dreamless restful sleep that would be nice.

i've read about dream inducing/altering plants, etc. but don't know if I want to get involved with something like that.

I spend most of my day thinking of useless nonsense, mostly in the form of media garbage I have ate-up in the past.

well thanks for listening and have a great day.

i love that sentence.  yaaaaaa--- that is a good thing to shift over from. . . important, too!

one is free- allways free.

Sri Ramakrishna expressed it very beautifully.......... very beautifully. . I do not know exact words -- but very much he said, 'You are free...'

and he would talk about -- if you say, 'i am free,' it really brings it about..... and... helps a lot - now, that is paraphrase and he said it much more beautifully, but similar..

and i am pretty sure he also said... like, ... ya i think it was him,.. no point in sayin'  'i'm a sinner' etc...

'coz it is kinda like a spell (that's my own) but... yeah

at the very least, it was ... well --- -hehe... and, as i say it was far more beautiful and eloquent by him.

( i don't remember where it's from, i will look up soon, but -
"Essential truth spoken concisely is true eloquence.” )

Very interesting. I experienced vivid dreams on Gabapentin when I gave it the ol' psychopharmaceutical trial run, but they were not lucid. I also would sweat balls all night though, just a memory. I recently have run across Lyrica, a Gabapentin analogue (or similarity? I donno chemistry terms well). It has caused me no vivid or lucid dreams though, but I blaze up every night and we all know stoners dream less.

Unfortunately the Pregabalin gave me asterixis, an uncommon but noteworth side effect of the medication... Only about thirty other people have reported it to big pharma I found out.
These drugs are still new, pregabalin and its chemical brother gabapentin. Lucid dreaming is not however. I will be using the ancient methods to attempt to lucid dream from now on.
I hope you experience no ill effects from your gabapentin trips, but remember this stuff is human synthesized and can cause very odd things, such as a sudden lapse into asterixis...
I highly advise that you do not use pregabalin (Lyrica) as its affinity of 6-9x to gaba receptors is MUCH higher than gabapentin, it literally maxes out the gabasystem through bioavailability (which is 98%, and is not metabolized by the body at all).
Be safe out there with all this new stuff.

It's all good man, like I said, I just dabble with it here and there... an interesting buzz at the right dose, sorta like ghb in a way, but it's nothing I set my sites on very often... this dream enhancement shit though, I still can't believe how easy it makes it to go lucid!

I do tend to stick to the traditional route myself though, which is just something I stumbled on as a kid... this just makes it waaaaay easier, and the effect lasts pretty much all night and into the morning... this works better for me then galantamine/choline even!
