KAVA: The Pacific Drug
    #2359383 - 02/20/04 12:55 PM (20 years, 1 month ago)

This comment is in response to a post by Brujo de la Colonia at Entheogen.com, who posted a note on Kava at that site. In his post he uses his name Brujo but one paragraph starts out as if the Islander users had a Brujo for their ceremonies. THus I poosted this information fornmthem and all of you here at this site. Kava is common in the Pacific nations where it is used like coffee is by Western Civilization.

Thus this post.

Well Mark Merlin, my colleague on seven of my shroom papers, co-authored this fine expensive ($45.00) book on Kava. However, the publishers in printing a paperback copy sold the name rights and the new publishers changed the title to Kava: the Pacific Elixer.

Merlin, LeBot and Lindstrom were very ticked off over the name change of the book from drug to elixer.

Here is the first of three papers on Kava and a picture of the Pope drinking Kava on the Island of Fiji.

And a picture of the Pope on Fiji Drinking ceremonial Kava.

The Pope did so oout of respect for the customs of the Fijian peoples.

Because it was traditional.

And again, to use a Spanish word to describe someone who uses Kava is very incorrect. The Pacific Islanders so not use a term such as witch or witch doctor. Brujo was used to describe Witch woman in Mesoamerica who use entheogenic plants ceremoniously, not for Pacific Islanders who have never heard such a word.

It is improper to apply or attempt to apply it to such use of Kava.

The Pope's Picture from the book.
