I live in the deserts of New Mexico, so obviously cacti are abundant and easy to grow. Which is better for a first time grower of San Pedro? Seeds or cuttings?

Depends how patient you are and how much money you want to spend, obviously a rooted cutting has a major head start and seeds are slower but cheaper.

Buy both, end of thread. Plant 1 or 2 cuttings for the near future, and sow some seeds for the long term, this isn't rocker science. Now, which seeds, that is the real question here.

First time grower can do both. Less failure with a cutting. I know i failed until i grew my nitrogen crosses, many years down the line. But many of my cuttings survive now. So theres that.
