Flies/ Maggots in my tubs :(

Hey everyone. I have been watching all the grows and wanted to first say congrats to all the successful shroomerites.
I am on my first grow. I used rye berries and had lots of success with my jars being mostly contam free. The problem arose in my monotub.
In about 2 days flies and maggots infiltrated my grow. Honestly I'm heartbroken about it. All that work and the insects bring me down. I decided to just place the tub on my back porch (so the fly reproduction would not be taking place in my house).
Hopefully I get some yield. But in the meantime I need to eradicate these mofos. I put up about 5 fly strips around my house, I am purchasing a bug zapper, and I kill any I see with extreme prejudice.
Fuck

Was it super wet in there? I've had the off problem with fungus gnats but never with common house flies, and there are tons of them buzzing around my house this time of year.

Its field capacity in there. Yeah same with me, they were in my house and the tubs were the perfect place to make babes without being disturbed. The are fruit flies btw.

Oh, thats not so bad. I thought you had some creepy crawlies in there. Just make sure you get your fruits nice and dehydrated and toss the tub before the flies get too outta control.

I got no fruits yet, the coir just started colonization. You think they will make it to fruits?

Clean the outside of the tub with alcohol and lysol ( it repells bugs, you can also spray the outside with bug spray. This may sound absurd but it really works. - Much love and good luck

I always hang 10 flypapers in my grow area, decent insurance. Also mice and rats CAN get into your tubs right thru the poly, place sticky rat traps against the walls.

Gotta toss those tubs ASAP. I had fungus gnats- nothing will stop them. One gnat will lay thousaij nnds of eggs in your tub- they'll just keep hatching and hatching. They are a vector for mold / contams in a fully colonized fruiting substrate.
I hung up fly paper inside my tubs, about 10 rolls in the area- they turned black with flies and no luck.
I harvested my first flush and tossed all my substrates. I then went a full month without spawning amy new tubs. This is the only thing that I've found to work

Yea if they get established it's a real bitch. Preventative measures before a problem is key.

I had a fungus gnat infestation, well not bad just a few here and there, earlier this year(spring) and I thought I got rid of them by using fly strips and killing any on sight but still months later i'll see one or two in a random tub.
IDK if they are just flying in from outside at this point or if they are established somewhere and slowly getting into my tubs?
good luck definitely toss it if it's bad and do as many preventative measures as possible. I saw personnally how fast it can get out of hand. keep us posted.

do what the US gov. does and spray your tubs down with toxic chemicals! not like its going to do anything more harmful than the veggies you eat at crack-ronalds
hint: please do not do this and just toss it. bugs on your subs are gross
also the thought of tripping on something that has bugs on it would make me tear my skin off.

Lol...you should prolly stay away from wild actives then brotha! I assume every one I collect and eat has maggots in it...I just tell myself that they are full of alkaloids and add a bit of nutrition to the trip hahaha!

I'll trip on it anyday just couldn't stand being completely ruined by something like a bug
put some chemicals on it just for the sake of it and burn those little fuckers

Well shit guys. I put it outside and will watch it. But will most likely have to start over I guess. Next time I have to prevent this shit because that's a lot of wasted time, rye, coir etc.
