Youre not married are you? And if you are, kudos on choosing someone that tolerates your hobby. Speaking of which, i gotta clean up my jungle. exwife is on me about it every fucking day. Gripe!

Not married nope. But in that situation i could make use of the abundant chamomille for tea, it's calming

So they say. For as much as chamomile is touted as being the best for all sorts of ailments i javent felt shit when i drank it. Hell i would need and elephant tranquilizer to bring this bull down. Or my favoritw dose of 5mg of melatonin andand 25mg diphenhydramine. Its the best.

Snap, how did you chill them, in soil?
And how long have they been out since?

I've seen activity from about 20% of my unchilled seeds now. Other half will stay fridged another week.

I had them in a zip lock bag with a damp price of paper towel
One had a little white sprout but it turned yellow and died a day later.

Weekly update:

Some true leafs are appearing on seedlings; Artemisia (they smell good when crushed), HBWR, Ephedra and prepped up kanna.

Planted two new species, Crocus sativus (saffron) and Satureja montana (winter savory).
Winter savory starting to sprout already after 3 days.
The croci should appear and flower in about a month or two.

A set of Pereskinopsis.

The water bottle is just for decoration...you can't see it on this picture but it got ventilation holes on the bottom so moist air can escape..

The one moonflower vine turned out not to be a moonflower vine but Fallopia convolvulus instead.
Nice move, black-bindweed...

I'm trying to root some cuttings of what was left behind cause in the current state they will probably not survive the winter nor flower and send new seed.

To finish, some repotted Peganum

And week old solo loph getting huge! He is gonna need the whole pot anyway..

So jealous of the ephedra what was your process. I've followed literally every instruction I can find online and the seller of the seeds and only had one sprout out a little then immediately die. Did you bury them poke them pointy end down scatter them? What substrate when Watering any nutes any pH modifications? I've tried each of these with no success

Edit: Now that i think of it i only got 2 plants out of 50 seeds thus far, so this might actually be the way not to do it!

Some possible factors:

  • The seeds might have been fresh (a different species seeds from the same supplier (weberseeds.nl) where noticably fresh)
  • I sprinkled cinnamon after the first seed went full retard. (cinnamon is a good fungicide, not sure if works against what is at play here but can't beat the smell anyway)
  • Orientation of the seed. I threw out some that went roots up to the sky, however i think i pretty much layed em all down flat and sprinkled just a tiny bit of dirt not even covering them...
Watering and shaking could also have effected the position afterwards ofcourse.

I ended up removing the seed cage from both specimens manually wich seemed to be beneficial, they were already growing though with it on the tips of their cotyledons.

Work in progress;

Actinidia kolomikta (kiwi vine)

2 weeks growth

Alchemilla (lady's mantle)

Having a good time

Aquilegia (columbine)

It did lose a substantial amount of leaves but it seems to be growing new ones.
Bugs are turning to cannibalism

Argyreia nervosa (hawaiian baby woodrose)

I have repotted them. These plants seem to have a thing with roots

Artemisia abisnthium (wormwood) and Satureja montana (winter savory)

Repotted and placed outside on their spot to overwinter.
Will place these in the ground coming spring when they are big enough not to get trampled easily.

Echinopsis pachanoi (san pedro)

Pretty cactus
It has gotten really fat since it was freed from it's tiny little pot, compare the countours of the ribs..

Ephedra sinica (ma huang)

These 2 plants seem to do really fine.
They are the only 2 out of 50 seeds that made it. Their batch mates got hairy. Cold moist stratification has in my case lowered the success rate by 200% to 0. Looks to me it was a bacterial or fungal thing...judging from browning and squishiness.

Glechoma hederacea (ground ivy)

Looks like it is finally getting some foothold

Ipomoea alba (moonflower vine)

Root fuzz after 2 weeks

Jasminum officinale (jasmine)

A month later

Mystery seeds (???)

Repotted the seeds. Had to check what was happening with them and one of them did show activity, didn't even expect the seeds to be viable.
I broke it up for inspection (it's a type of seed with multiple plants growing from it) and repotted in fresh soil.
Not sure if breaking it up is any good but time will tell...

Lophophora williamsii (peyote)

This image is not altered in any way.
2 week old baby loph

Mentha requienii (corsican mint)

Month of mint

Peganum harmala (syrian rue)

Recovering nicely after beeing treated terrible.
Even though they seem pretty tough, i will keep them inside untill spring when they will be planted in the ground.

Sceletium tortuosum (kanna)

Unsupported now and doing great (except one, but that was my bad )

Thymus pseudolanuginosus (wooly thyme) and T. citriodorus (lemon thyme)

Second try of cuttings, this thyme in water

Small update.

To start with 2 plants that ended up as a gift, i only realized they were annuals after i already got em. :crazy2:
Matricaria chamomilla, nitrogen fixers.

Lavendula angustifolia, not sure why this wasn't in my garden yet....smells great.

Then there was also this other great news, the graft took! (my first one ever, the joy..)
Looked at first like it was shriveling up like a raisin, then few days later...

His brother graft seemed to have made a good connection too, just wanted to know how it felt like...
I made a couple more grafts and repotted the remaining seedlings for gifts and controls

Thats all for this week!

Seed fairy brought me some Erythroxylum coca var. coca

Aquired this boerhavia diffusa or red spiderling or tarvine, or whatever wikipedia says you call it.

Pach graft just exploding, blending in with the peres, in the background 20 liter pot for HBWR B)

In the background big ol pach growing higher

And in the background, a wild Osmanthus appears.
Not the fragrans on my wishlist but a burkwoodii, a mix between delavyi and decorus. Will see how good it is coming spring.

Nice work mrmazda, you grow these indoors exclusively?

I have just some small updates for this week.

Croci sprouts

Saving the moonflower vine continued...dug up 2 and placed them in pots with some light pruning and a drink

Pachanoi graft, now wider than it is tall
