Mass Steam Drying

So, I'm about to do another batch. As I'm going to be doing a run of 7 different strains this time, I'm going to need to make a lot of spawn. I'm thinking, 70 quart jars would be a good amount for this run. Last time that I did a run with 150 jars, it was a total pain in the knickers, trying to steam dry in a single strainer. It took all day. I want to build something that will help steam dry a larger batch, much faster. Any ideas?

Covert a washer machine for just the spin cycle only. Line the inside with a towel. put a big ass fan blowing down into it. Idk.. First thing that came to mind. It'd prolly end up being a huge mess

Try bags if youre using that many jars. It will save you a lot of time and money.

A lot of money? How so?
I've been using jars as opposed to bags, as if a bag goes bad, I'm screwed out of a bunch of grain. If a jar goes bad from a batch, I usually have another 9 jars that are perfectly fine.
Well, I do have another 50 bags or so laying around, so maybe I'll do both.
But hold on. Are you saying there is a way to dry the grains using bags?

Bags fit more grain means less pc cycles means less *time*, gas, and when doing g2g.
Like when g2ging instead of g2ging one quart to ten jars, its two motions into two bags opposed to ten motions into ten jars.
Wasnt saying dry grain with bags. Was linking to the pictured strainer. He uses box fans and a large strainer. Without rereading the link im fairly sure it can dry 50lbs at a time so you can figure out what you need, if you need more than that the box fans have it dried in minutes. So in an hour you can have hundreds of pounds of dried grain.

I lay a box fan over a 105qt tote to dry out my WBS a bit more. Check out the WBS tutorial in my sig

id imagine using a large sgfc(since bulk is better suited for mono tubs IME) and dump in the grain with a fan.... uhhh yah???

I wish i had a picture of my setup. I have a big steel pallet with nylon screening ziptied to the top. I dump my whole bucket of grain on there and let gravity do all the work.

Ah, gotcha.
Well, I can make one of those, but I don't have fans like that. I do, on the other hand, have a squirrel cage fan that can toss you across the room. I wonder if I should put something together with that? I've also got a huge pile of wood, and a metal sheet with a ton of tiny holes in it. Maybe I'll make something similar out of that?

Am I the only one that steams in the kitchen sink and bath tub? I just take a strainer put it over the drains on my kitchen sinks then dump all the pots of seeds directly into the sinks let them steam for awhile, stir it around, repeat until all steamed off. Never had any problems. When I used to do it in even larger batch's I would take a couple towels line my bathtub without covering the drain. Then I put a strainer on the drain and threw all the seeds on top the towels, then use the towels to move around the seeds once in awhile to let them steam. Used both methods for years without problems although I do prefer to cook my seeds in smaller batches (50 jars at a time) that way I can fit them into my sink (shorter walk).
edit- Along time ago I used to have a huge screen that was framed out with wood that fit into my bathtub. The rest is pretty self explaining, but all methods I mentioned work equally well amazingly. I've ditched the screen.

Hmmm. Well, my setup is inside in a carpeted room, in a place where there is no access to outside, nor a bathtub. How about this. I've got a squirrel cage fan linked to a HEPA that gives laminar flow. Its 2'x4'x6". What if I took that steel sheet I have that has a ton of tiny holes in it, frame it with wood, pour my grains on it, and put the HEPA face down on the frame? I could make it the same dimensions as the HEPA's face. Think that would work?

Maybe just strain as you normally do and then lay out some towels and spread the grain on there. That hepa method sounds a bit wacky no offense.

This, or just a screen over a plastic tub or something. I wouldn't over think it them steaming themselves off does most the work.
