Just watched it. Frank. All this experimental music. So is this guy mentally ill or just can't get through presenting his music to the public? His girlfriend is mentally ill but is he? And since it is based on a true story did that keyboardist who the whole show is narrated by go on to do anything yet?
The Syd of Pink Floyd but they never said if he used psychs heavily or not? Just confused by this movie but I love a few parts. The one that stood out when the she played and mixed music to the keyboardist cutting himself accidently while shaving in their rented cabin in the middle of nowhere.

Thought the same thing going into Ireland but thinking this story was based pre 9/11 and wasn't so paranoid since he had the documents.
But was he mentally ill or just artistically shy to that level?

I don't know anything about the movie you guys are talking about. But I do know Syd Barrett was a heavy LSD user. He probably had preexisting psych conditions, and its impossible to know for sure, but it's likely the drug use pushed him over the edge. I think it was Gilmour (maybe Waters) who used to bring the royalty checks to his house. and Syd couldn't care less and frequently never cashed them. It's sad when genius goes over the edge and doesn't reach it's potential.
