First time at WBS. 6 quarts of Burma. Are these ready to case? All six in a line Four of the jars One close up. Check out the grains stuck to the jar up top. Some really crazy growth coming from that piece of corn! Should I case this weekend? I think it has been a little over two weeks since innoc.

If these jars were only inoced 2 weeks ago , let them colonize some more , like another 5-10 days at least . They look good so far , and if only 2 weeks old , nice speedy colonization goin on , but give it a little more time , you want them 100% +5 before casing them . Good Luck "May The Mushroom Goddess Bless All Your Endeavors !" Trip n D

Cool, I will wait a while longer. 90F incubation does wonders. No need to shake again? Thanks so much for the input, really looking forward to this casing. 6 quarts cased into one casing.... drooool.

86*F is the optimal temp for colonization , but do what works best for you .

I have my heater set to about 86F, but the weather is warming up now and it tends to sit at about 90F. I guess it is working fine though. I don't really feel like taking the tub-in-a-tub apart to turn the heater down. :lazyness: Just drained from Organic chem 2 exam this morning.

I am going to school in a comprehensive Chemistry and Business education. I am going to get into Chemical or Pharmaceutical sales. $$ Should be making $50k + a year or so out of school. After a few years back to school for an MBA so I can be a manager and not travel so much. I don't really have the interest to be a full on chemist, but I do enjoy it. I just realized it last night while studying that I kind of enjoy Organic chem. My calc skills are lacking too much to be an ACS Chem Major.

i figured you were gonna use the organic chem as a precursor to brewing a very special, magical substance. nevermind my retarded comments then. sounds like a good career path, interesting being both a chemist and into business at the same time. good luck.

Thanks. Yeah, I have looked into doing that kind of stuff. But the setup for it is waaaaay expensive. Buying watched chems is not a good way to lie low either. If I could do it I would, but it is a little too hardcore for me. I wish I could find a good chemist on these boards to converse with though.

what kind of equipment would you need to do that kind of thing ya know? how much would it cost? i'm not a chemist but i've always wondered, and read up on it. i know the chems are under tight control, but they are out there, and there is a black market for em. again, to hardcore for me, but its damn interesting stuff. what do you know about it?

I just know you need things like a Rotovap (used to boil off a solvent quickly under pressure), a liquid chromotargraphy machine ($50k) plus. Lots of glassware. There are probably other things too, but it has been a while since I read up. I like to read about it, but that is about it.
