First bulk project!!!

Very excited for this project! I have two 20 qt hybrid mini monos per Pasty's Tek. I used MudaFuka's improved bucket TEK to prepare the CVG, and I spawned 13 BRF cakes inoculated with PE MS. 6 in one tub 7 in the other.
After mixing the substrate and spawn well, I covered with a very thin layer of CVG. My logic was to protect the exposed mycellium, was this a good idea?
I wish i could fast forward 10 days! But I'll be playing with my agar in the meantime!

You can take your tubs out of the trash bags, old and out dated method. People are fruiting at spawn these days, supposedly it shaves a couple days off the process.
Other than that, keep up the good work.

Thank you! I will make the adjustment immediately...I was planning on casing it when ready but if it is fruiting immediately from spawn, how exactly would that work? lol

A thin "top layer" of substrate is fine, and yea the idea is to protect exposed grains.
I use them sometimes, but just mixing sub/spawn tottally is fine too. You can always case after if you want

Good luck! Keep us posted. You were correct in covering the top with some of your bulk material. Doing so will keep your grains on the top from from drying out. Dried out grains are more prone to contamination. Also, the tub lids are more than adequate to maintain proper co2 levels. The outer bags are not necessary.

The myc will colonize the substrate and fruit when it's ready, and you can late case once you start to see pins. Fruiting at spawn simply means you stuff your holes with poly like you would at fruiting, but you do it when you mix your sub, instead of taping the holes or putting the tub in a trash bag.
