salesmen how do you sleep at night?

I'm trying to get into real estate but have somewhat minor issue with selling.
I'm a great salesman but I feel guilty for selling things knowing that theres something wrong with it.
let me explain. I'm picky and pay attention details. so I don't miss much when it comes to damage or something not right in general with whatever I look at.
which leaves me with a feeling that I sold something that had more issues that the customer knows about. but at the same time if I start pointing out every single issue I found I will not sell crap at all...
how do you get over the guilt when you sell? does it go away with time?
I sold a used fridge today for great deal but when I take a look at it I saw all the imperfections and felt like I should have gave a better price.

At least you are helping someone with a legitimate need satisfy that need. Those that stoke and cultivate our insecurities and fears (or invent novel ones) to sell us doodads belong several circles deeper within hell.

You can be honest, and be a salesperson.

You have to believe in the product you are selling. It helps if you like what you are selling.

Agreed.
If you sell a home that has problems or issues. That's common, but that's why the home is priced what it is. If the home was flawless, then you're looking at new construction and the price would be much higher.
I've been on home tours before where I've told the buyers to walk away. The home was over priced and not worth it. But, there have been times where I've said, 'Wow.. this is a good deal'.
If its a house, a car or a stick of bubble gum. The sale of any object can only be finalized after the buyer agrees to its value.
If you buy a dozen eggs for $100, most would think you're crazy. But ... if the buyer of those eggs thinks they're worth it, then that's their choice. If the buyer of those eggs does not educate themselves prior to making a purchase. Then they may pay more than they should.
From a sales perspective, if you're selling a product that has problems, you don't necessarily have to point out every issue. But you may want to chime in and say that the house is over/undervalued.

Most of the time customers pay a high price for something it is because they can afford it. If you saw their finances you would not give a shit.

The truth is you must disclose something wrong with real-state. Even with cars there are lemon laws. With anything it can ruin a return costumer.
The sales man or woman knows how to gloss over the details. They buyer purchases your attitude and vision!

There are cases when it's "let the buyer beware", and other cases when state car or real estate laws come in. I think salesman/women can be a real pain in the ass, but they're not the scum of the earth. It's just a job with a chance at higher money than hourly wages, like a waitress or a bartender, but salesmen don't make their extra money so frequently so when they do its more.
I don't have a huge amount of sympathy for people whose gullibility lets them get taken in by salesman. Who hasn't heard of the PT Barnum slogan "there's a sucker born every minute"
I have a good salesman story. I had this girlfriend in early 06. She was much younger than me and I had money, go figure. Her car was dying so I said I'll give 8,000, you can get something decent. It was supposed to be a loan but I'm not stupid. So were at this used car lot affiliated with the new car dealer. This smarmy fucking salesman was coming on to her the whole time. She's about 15 years younger than me so I don't know if he thinks I'm her father or he thinks I'm a pussy. Either way I get tired of his act so I snap my fingers and say "Listen Fuckface, all the money is in my pocket. So after that it's Sir this and Sir that and he made more eye contact with me than her. So she buys, I pay for it, and she does all the paperwork. I think I dumped her less than 10 days later. It was for "insurance" , being able to sleep at night. those were the days.

My mom was a sales person for snap-on. She made good money and outsold the guys. Selling software and garages to car dealers all over the east coast. She worked her ass off then got sick and had to stop.

Snap-on is a good company. I know a lot of mechanics and every one of them either had them or wanted them.

The best way to be a sales person without guilt or doubt in yourself is to ensure you're selling a product that you actually believe in and feel will benefit people. It's easy to sell when you're helping someone get the best outcome and making a sale. Win win.

I'm in sales - and the best way to help yourself, is to help others first.
If you try to fleece people, things WILL catch up with you eventually. If you know something is wrong - tell them. Be part of the solution, and not the problem.

You sleep at night because you're too tired from all the selling.
Also OP, don't feel bad. Remember this quote

Fortunately for you selling homes is easy, you don't really have to be a snake oil salesman or lie to people to get a sale. Homes are one of those things that sell themselves.

Yeah greed and empathy don't mesh well. However surviving in this current system one needs to be slightly greedy if you want to participate in said system.
Or you could try and find a new way of being and supporting your daily needs that does not rely on rigged monetary systems and greedy salesman

Babylonian traditions have made practice of tithing (one tenth or more of income given out to worthy causes), a common practice amongst the tens of thousands of individuals and corporations of the world.
Ones vision of the world tends to be shaped by ones own contribution.
Greed is not a necessity. It's a consequence of desire manifested as 'disease'.
Knowing we get nothing in return without first giving something of value, is knowledge worth its weight in the amount of gold, which is directly proportional to degree of understanding.
All part of the great leap of faith.
