Amycel 3015 question

I see Amycel 3015 is a popular oyster strain. I'm looking at it on Aloha's website and I see a price of $350. I think this is for a culture, but it's not entirely clear. Why is this so expensive? Exactly what to you get for $350? Why is this so different from liquid cultures of oyster you can buy elsewhere for $18 or $19?
If anyone can clue me in, I'd appreciate it. Thanks.

Its pretty reliable fruiter with heavy yields and contamination resistance. You can call them and order 40# of spawn for less than $100.

Amycel and Aloha are different companies. The $350 is for a master culture slant that you can use to make more slants, petri dishes, grain spawn, LC, etc. You can do the same thing with an $18 syringe, but you're not getting the quality of genetics. If you're interested in buying spawn, it typically costs around $3/#.

OK! That makes more sense now, thanks. I didn't see it specifically stated that the $350 was for a culture slant but maybe I missed something.
I would obviously rather have the higher quality genetics, but I can't spend $350 and I don't see the 3015 available in spawn from Aloha. Am I missing something again? Is there a different company that sells the Amycel 3015? Should I just call Aloha and stop bothering you guys?

I looked at amycel.com too but it didn't look like you could order from the website. I assumed it was one of those companies that only sell through dealers. Apparently not? You can buy directly from them but you have to call to order? Thanks.

You will have to call and get a shipping price and send a check in. It's kind of a pain, but it's a great strain and you can expand the grain quite a bit. I paid ~$75 for 40 lbs shipped to Florida.

That sounds like an old fashioned way of doing business, but I can do that, no problem. Thanks everyone for quick responses. It's making sense now.

Amycel 3015 GENERAL CHARACTERISTICS
http://www.amycel.pl/application/files/9214/5865/1725/3015__Technical_Presentation.pdf
I bought one 20 lb. bag of spawn for 23.00 dollars. Overnight shipping was 32.00 dollars at their California location. One 20 lb. bag will inoculate 80- five lb. grow bags.
I now have six slant tubes and make my own 3015 spawn.

Thanks - I called and talked to a real nice lady named Nancy who sent me an email with all the information. A 15 liter bag of 3015 grain spawn that weighs about 19 lb costs $25 with an extra $13 for 2-day shipping. Not bad! I really don't need 19 pounds of the stuff, but I guess that's one of those problems that's really not a problem so I won't complain.
Thanks again for the help.

The spawn you don't use will store for a very long time in the fridge.. Put it in a trash bag or two to keep the contaminates off your spawn bag.
If you live in hot weather overnight delivery is best.
Try to be around when it's delivered so it won't sit in the hot sun.
Wash your spawn bag good with soap and water or wipe with alcohol before opening..

Yes look up the adress of the spawn lab closet to you. Send a letter of the strain you want. The money and return adress and they send it in no time. Its all second geration spawn according to the lady i talk to on the phone. So remember make a lot of plate to drop a grain or two in. Then you can make your own 20 qts of spawn with li in no time.

You have to call/email a rep to order from amycel. I think a 40 pound box of 3015 cost me around 80 dollars with shipping. Had to send in a money order first. Bit of a pain in the ass, but that shit was potent. I had shrooms growing directly out of the spawn box even almost a year after I bought it.

Yep..! 3015 is very aggressive.. From the agar plate or lc. I can make 20 lbs. in five days using white millet.
I tried GrOwer recipe: Oats and milo or called sorghum. I made 12 lbs. in four days. Go to GrOwer You-tube channel and check out his series on making spawn.
One nice feature about 3015 is the shelf life in the fridge.. It's what the chefs like..

I even took some grains and put them into sterile water in a sealed vial. When i need a true master i pluck a seed out and put that onto agar and go from there. Ive been contemplating refreshing my ~7 month old strain but im already flooded with mushrooms im not sure if i want to try to even attempt to increase my yield.

Is Amycel 3015 an isolated strain? Like is it a monoculture?
-------------------- Alice asked the Cheshire Cat, who was sitting in a tree, “What road do I take?” The cat asked, “Where do you want to go?” “I don’t know,” Alice answered. “Then,” said the cat, “it really doesn’t matter, does it?”
