Black Mold?
    #23587553 - 08/28/16 04:46 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Hi, can anyone tell me what this is on the base of the stem? Haven't seen it anywhere else in my FC. I've already picked it and cut off the black spots, but is the mushroom still good to eat?

I would eat it.

I dont know what it is, but it doesnt seem to be affecting the mushroom. If I saw it in one of my grows, I probably wouldnt be too concerned about it.

I picked it because i was worried it would spread to the rest of the cakes but it sounds like this is nothing to be worried about. Thank you.

Looks like your fruit got wet. Don't let moisture set on your fruit for too long or they will look like that.

I'm actually shocked nobody has said either verticillium or pseudomonas bacteria..

Both of those cause the spots at the base of the stem, and are also edible. I'd still dry them in a dehydrator before ingesting tho.

Oh and yeah, they do spread like fuckin insane bitches. Especially when there's low FAE, and lots of misting. What is your chamber like?

I was thinking either vert or pseudomonas but since I'm a noob and have never encountered them myself I didn't want to mention them and be horribly wrong lol.

Normal SGFC following instructions found here with about 4 inches of perlite. I may have sprayed a little too much and directly over the cakes trying to keep the humidity over 95%. Luckily haven't found them on anywhere else.
