Do I pull this now or let it sit at this temperature a while? Started on 300 an hour and fifteen ago, got a little closer to 180 than I'd have liked. So I pulled t for a minute and lowered the oven down to 150. It's been cooking at 150 for 30 minutes. A total of an hour and fifteen minutes so far.
Do I let this keep cooking or pull now? Urgent response needed please.
Oven pasturizing Coir/Verm btw

Why did you do it at 300? Why are you measuring the core temp if you're oven pasteurizing? Especially at that temp. 300 is high enough to boil the water out of it.. 200F is plenty fine.
You are trying way too hard for coir right now. Just take it out, it's probably done, don't bother measuring the temp. Make sure it's field capacity and use it. If it's not just add water and mix.
But seriously, if you're doing this at 300F, don't even bother calling it pasteurization, it stopped being that 130F ago.

I followed this tek.
https://www.shroomery.org/8393/Oven-Bag-Pasteurization-Pictorial
Step 1 says preheat oven to 300.
Must've not been a good tek. My mistake. Will pull now. Thanks very much

thank you fahtster!
Moabfighter, 300 degrees will sterilize the outside layer of your substrate while trying to pasteurize the core, not so good. I steam my substrate for 5-6 hours with a wallpaper steamer and temp sensor at 165 degrees to get the core pasteurized properly. Steam will transfer heat much better than dry air without running the risk of drying things out.

In most methods you sterilize the outside n this is done on purpse, this limits the beneficial bacteria which will spread during cooling.

This is the first time I have heard of this. So you can have too much beneficial bacteria?
