Dealing with a members' passing * 3
    #23585436 - 08/27/16 10:51 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Hi all,

I'm a new member.. but an old friend of mine was a member here. He passed away a few months ago and, I'm not sure why, but tonight I'm really feeling his loss.

He went by the name ZippoZ here, but I knew him as Greg. Officially, his death was ruled a suicide, though I speculate it was an overdose. I didn't go to his funeral. I'm not sure why... but now I wish I did.

Anyway. He was a really good person. And I miss him.

I wish I could tell him so many things.

Whuuuuuut? I met him once at a North East gathering. He wasn't just a member; I'm pretty sure he was a moderator.

I met Zippoz awhile back, at a gathering.  He was an interesting person, seemed to have a truly genuine and unique character. I am still bummed about his death...

Sorry about the loss of your friend.

He took me to a gathering years and years ago in Ohio (the quarry). Maybe I met someone who's reading this? Anyway, I have a good memory of that weekend.

That's where I met him, at Nelson's Ledges, the quarry park.

Welcome to the boards sucks the circumstances it's under though. He was well known and liked around here. Unfortunately death is an all too common thing we deal with on this site. We've lost a few good people in just the last few months actually.

Yeah it's been crazy for a few months here at the shroomery in that sense. It's really disappointing.

It's sad the same thing is happening in my home area. Lots of my friends are dying lately it's mostly car accidents and suicides..

It's been really sad and humbling.

It's been like 5 or 6 friends and acquaintances around my home area in the last 10 months. It's not something I'm used to.

It makes you wanna hang out with your friends and family more though.

I think about Zippoz every single day.

He was Greg to me too.

He wasn't Greg to me but wasn't Zippoz either. If that makes any sense. Was a late night shoot the breeze pal. I thought about him yesterday when I was out in the dunes. He used to complain about his hands hurting and the nerve damage and shaking and shit, and though I won't know what he went through, I'll tell you it sure does suck when you want your hand to do something and it doesn't. It's maddening.

Kevin passed through my thoughts the other day when I was writing up my workmans resume. He'd probably tell me not to overthink it and if the resume sucked I could just show them how hard of a worker I am.

I dunno it's still early in the AM here.

It is always difficult, and happens too much. :frown:

I didn't even know Zippoz was gone, I thought he was on a break or something

I still think of Zappa from time to time too. This sunday I was tripping, and the next day was missing a shoe. I'll never forget all those glorious bastards we lost

I tripped a few months ago and lost a shoe. Ripped the house apart looking for it and finally I put on another pair, go out for my morning walk and it's hanging on our outside doorknob by the laces. Don't ask me, I'll never know, allegedly I never went outside and the only thing I could think of was "it must have been good - I lost a shoe". that fuckin guy haha
