Wouldn't a rolling boil for 5 mins be just as good and less time used?

So both would work but pasturizing would work better?spawn will most likey be high in nutrition

I meant just use it...hydrate your subs and pasturize.

If there's any beneficial bacteria in the water, pasteurizing will put it to work for your substrate.
