A Few Recent Bridge Observations

All my bridge and pedro's are back in New Mexico. My mom has been caring for them. Now, I had several that were nearly dead from the trauma of being moved.
Lo and behold, I go back, and even the most ragged ones are pupping. I had one big piece I left on a table, in the shade and it has 2 6 inch pups coming out like fangs, at a 90 degree angle. My mom freaked out. everal of the others have 2 pups on them.
Now the interesting observation.
The healthiest ones, and the ones that have the most new growth and pupping, where in the shade, and had virtually no water added. The ones with the most direct sunlight fared the worst.
Compared to san diego the other observation is, the growing season started a good 4 months later, i.e in june rather than february in san diego. It makes sense, since New Mexico is a much colder winter climate. I'm going to harvest the pups and bring them back when i move into my new apartment next month, and leave the big feedstock back in new mexico for a time. My mom likes them.
Here is what I have learned starting my 3rd season as a bridge/pedro grower.
1) The key ingredient is sunlight. Too much direct drastically slows the rate of growth. 90% of the sunlight should be indirect, but it should be all day long, i.e. 1 hour of direct, 10 hours of indirect sunlight.
2) The best growing temp is 80~90 degree days and 50~60 degree nights.
3) They can take a lot of water, and a lot of nitrates, as long as you keep the PH fairly basic, i.e greater than 7.2.
That's it, how does it correspond to your own knowledge?

I think sunlight is fine for bridge's assuming they have a developed root system and are watered properly. If you had some in the sun and some in dappled shade, both given no water, the ones in direct sun would have a much higher rate of transpiration and their water reserve wouldn't last as long as ones in diffuse light. The ones in the shade would have more stored moisture to grow new growth with. I have mine in about 8 hours of direct sunlight and they do good. I try to keep them good and moist though. I've heard the recommendation to grow them under shade cloth though. I think it depends on the cultivar though, since some seem to handle the harsh sun better.
I don't really measure ph, but I have watered some really acidic fermented teas onto my trichos and they have fared fine. One even pupped profusely after a very strong fermented kelp tea soal. The ph of these is usually below 4.0

mescaline makes you nauseous if you swallow it because it activates Serotonin HTP-3 receptors. Sounds like shitty bridge. The only time I never got off on bridge was when i swallowed chunks whole without chewing it. Everytime I've chewed it it kicked my butt.

Can the receptors you mention be burnt out from smoking synthetic weed. I would buy the stuff in packets so I don't know the specific chems. I can assure you that thc dosent effect me at all anymore no matter what amount . I'm just trying to see what's wrong with me and you seem knowledgable . I'm on no medication

This line of questions would be best suited to The Psychedelic Experience. We are in the growing and gardening forum here.

Great thread. Thanks for starting it.
Most of the large, healthy bridgesii that I have observed have been planted at east facing exposures where they receive morning sun and afternoon shade. Direct afternoon sun in a hot, sunny climate yellows out all Trichs and slows their growth as far as I can tell. They seem to like the direct sunlight early in the day before the sun gets directly overhead and the temps get really hot.

That's my observation also. I'm back in New Mexico today, before I leave for California I'm going out and de-pupping my bridges, have several new pups. Also, I have a pedro replant that has about 6 pups coming out around the base in a circle, rather like a hedgehog cactus.
I won't de-pup that pedro, it looks cool. The other pups I'm going to treat with sulfur and scab them for replanting.
