Another Monotub Consolidation Question

Hey Shroomery.
A friend of mine's been interested in learning so I've been helping them out. They're asking over and over if it's ready to fruit. I've no pictures but just picture a completely colonized monotub that the sub hasn't pulled away from the sides yet.
WBS PC'd properly, MS injection - PESA, Damion5050 tubs and no apparent contams, 6 days since it appeared fully colonized even on the bottom/sides (no liner).
We're discussing consolidating. I've recalled times where after fruiting my tubs in the past the sub would shrink and pull away from the tub. So many threads on here say so many things and I'm not satisfied with my search results so figured no harm in asking.
The shrinking ... is it actually "consolidation" as some imply or is it because of moisture evaporation as others do? There's no interest in waiting for pins which I've seen mentioned many times.
Just think of an overly excited child waiting for Christmas. Everything's been done properly and he's waited until the morning of but now he just wants to rip those damn gifts open!
When I did mine I'd let it colonize 100% and after it looked the same for 3-4 days went ahead and initiated fruiting after dabbing any pools of water that formed while it colonized. For me it always worked well.
Mycology seems to change more than fashion and a lot of the threads I'm finding are old.
Do you guys actually think there's a great benefit to waiting for pins before fruiting?
More importantly, will the sub shrink before it starts to evaporate moisture/fruits appear?
In my past experience as stated I'd fruit a few days after the tub was clearly at 100%. Pin distribution's always been about what's expected from MS.
There's so much conflicting information on when to fruit on here I'm torn 50 directions regarding what to advise. If they were mine I'd just say "fruit the damn thing" but I'm interested in some current opinions on this matter.
EDIT: Mispelled Damion

We dont consolidate bulk, the shrinking will happen once fruiting occurs and the sub starts getting eaten.

Ya that's pretty much my impression/experience. Thanks for the input. It's been a while for me honestly years so I just wanted to double-check how things are currently done.
