Anyone eats Marasmius alliaceus (Garlic Parachute) ?
    #23582632 - 08/27/16 07:10 AM (7 years, 5 months ago)

I know a place with lots of M. alliaceus and have collected some yesterday. Wikipedia says these are edible : "The cap of M. alliaceus is edible, but of limited culinary value due to its meagre flesh. It can be added to dishes to give a garlic flavour, which could be useful for people who are allergic to real garlic.". However I haven't read about anyone actually eating it. Should I dry the caps and chop them down, or boil/fry them ?

Offtopic, why is the default post icon a heart lately ?

I don't have experience eating Marasmius alliaceus. I have seen them but it always seemed like a lot of work for a small return. If you do try them report back on the flavor. I'd be curious to see what you think of them.

The reason the icons are hearts is because a moderator, Acidic Sloth passed away recently. You can learn more here:

I'd like to think I'm smart enough to realize how much knowledge I don't have.
