my first grow 2 weeks in

Hey guys, I've just started fruiting my first grow. I have 8 cakes, but 2 weeks in only 2 seem to have any growth ...

... are these ones ready to harvest? Or should I wait longer?
I'm worried that the other cakes are contaminated. There are blueish spots on the like this ...

... and ...

I'm making an automated terrarium so it keeps the temperature between 21 and 23c, and humidity about 98%.
To keep the heat up, a heat cord switches on and off, and to keep humidity up I have perlite on the bottom, and a fan that turns on when humidity goes below. If the fan doesn't raise it then a pump turns on and sprays some water in there, and the process repeats until the humidity is up.
I have it ventilate the air every 3 hours by opening air valves and blowing/sucking air from opposite ends, and from the bottom to suck the CO2 out.
Here's a pic of the fruiting chamber ventilating - looks abit rough but it works for now ...

... i'll publish the arduino code and 3d print files once it's finished

That grow chambers crazy complicated. It would have been way easier just getting a tote and drilling away at it. The blue spots are from your sub getting dried out. You don't want fans blowing right on your cakes.

A sgfc is designed to do all that work for you so you don't have to.

I give you props if the controls do everything you say it does, but......it's crazy complicated lol. Thats a ton of work. I can't offer any advice other than the blue is bruising, not a direct contam, but I'm interested in your controls. Are they anolog (just wiring) or do you have each device hooked up to a computer?

Yea it did turn out crazy complicated lol. I was racing against the clock because my cakes were almost ready to go. It took about 2 weeks and < $100 in parts. The most expensive thing was the $50 heat cord that's meant for reptile enclosures. Being paranoid, I wanted something that will run on it's in the outside shed, hidden from plain sight.

Cheers for letting me know. I've had the fan on full power, so that would explain in. I guess that could explain why they're taking so long to fruit.

Phew! I'm relieved to hear that the blue bruising is nothing to worry about The whole thing is controlled by an Arduino. It runs off 5 volts and costs less than $5. I wrote a simple program that checks a temp/humidity sensor every 5 seconds and turns on heat/fans/pump etc. to keep it in the range.

$100? Yikes. You could have just drilled a bunch of holes in a tub and called it a day.

Your cakes are too dry.
Your futuristic fruiting chamber is not giving your cakes what they need.
Your cakes need a fruiting chamber that provides them with constant FAE (fresh air exchange) and variance in humidity. RH in the chamber is not what you need, you need humidity at the substrate level. This is achieved by misting your cake (moistening the verm) and than letting the cake 'dry out's slightly. This constant cycle will stimulate pinning and have your cakes fruiting much faster than before.
It's cool to code a chamber to 'automation'. It's not cool to spend 100$ and a lot of time on something that isn't working for you. You need to get your cakes hydrated and provide them with what they need. Your automated chamber doesn't seem to be doing that.
I wouldn't give up on the automated chamber yet - you might be able to tweak it. However, at this moment, your cakes seem to be too dry. Build a proper SGFC until you can automate correctly.

Not trying to be a dick, just trying to get your cakes healthy again.
95% of new growers that build contraptions fail miserably.

Cheers for the feedback and comments guys. Looks like I've got some adjustments to do to keep the cakes from drying out, but for a first go it didn't turn out too bad ...

... that's with zero manual interaction (FAE is done automatically every 3 hours - too frequent?) so I'll consider that a success for version 0.1
I completely agree that a SGFC would do the job (better than v0.1 of my spaceship), but due to logistics I need to have it hidden in an outside shed in the cold, and don't want to manually mist/FAE every day. It has to handle everything itself, while I 'reclaim' the time spent on it by not fucking around with misting etc.
lol @ all the "$100" comments. Not sure where you guys live, but here in Aus $100 doesn't buy you much these days. Maybe a 1/4 of weed, or 1/2 a night out, so my crazy fruiting chamber didn't send me to the poor house (yet!)

I'd say it was a success, and I like your approach. Test and improve, save and compare data. Plus creativity is fucking awesome.
