A Medicinal Study * 1
    #23580306 - 08/26/16 02:32 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

Thanks to all of you on the Shroomery over the years, I went from wondering how to trip my balls off for a lot cost, to actually forming a love of mycology. In fact, I haven't grown a cube in years now, but am growing medicinal mushrooms. Everyone around me begun to know me as the guy that is obsessed with fungi. I begun talking about how I'm trying to focus on medicinal mushrooms, and due to my mom having cancer when I was a little kid, I want to attempt to do further research. One thing lead to another, and now I have an investor, willing to fund my lab. He was cured of cancer in less than 2 months, using medicinal mushrooms.

Now, I've talked about doing a study, but honestly, I don't know what I'm doing. I only have an idea. I'm hoping that you guys can help me figure out what to record.

My investor is putting his programmer on the job of building a website for this. Its being set up so that people can come and buy my medicinal extracts for a low price, and can record their results over time.

Also, due to a new method of extraction, pure CBD (100% separated from the THC) will be available on the site in the form of a tincture. Its perfectly legal to transport it across state lines due to this new extraction procedure.

Right now, I've got 3 strains growing. Ganoderma Lucidium (Reishi), Formitopsis Pinicola (Red Banded Polypore), and Sparassis Crispa (Cauliflower).

I'm planning on adding up to 2 more strains.

When medicinal mushroom are used in tandem, they tend to become more effective.

I'm thinking of doing different mixes, each dose having 3-5 strains of various assortments in them. Potentially even mixing in CBD?

Perhaps I should also request information from people on their followup doctor visits? Ones that look to see if it came back?

I assume that there is a database of chemo only patients that I can compare results to.

This study is meant to use medicinal mushrooms in tandem with chemo. I can't ask people to trust me 100% with their lives. That could get me in trouble.

Congratulations on the lab!

I would add shiitake and maitake to your blend, also maybe enoki.

I would be interested in participating in your study.

Whats's up with this CBD extraction method?

Care to share with us?

I really want to try CBD.

Thanks! Its all pretty exciting. Those three are great suggestions. I wonder if anyone around here may have some for trade?

In what way would you want to participate in the study?

As the device for extracting the CBD that well is so new (less than two months old) and the patent hasn't gone through yet, I don't think my investor would want me to discuss the details of it. All I can say is that it feels more smooth than Teflon in your hand while its in powder form (before mixing it into a tincture), and its damn effective. He got some people to test it, and there have been nothing but great results.

He went over the details of this version of CBD with 3 different lawyers. They all confirmed that this form breaks no laws in the USA to ship to other states. Its 100% legal, so you will be able to purchase it on the site with no issues. The price point is being targeted to be cheaper than the less refined CBD from other companies. He has given me some, and holy hell man, this stuff clears up your head and gives you mental energy. At night, I'm not burnt out from work all day (mentally), and remembering everything has become way easier. Its like all the memories are just there for the taking, as though they were on paper. No trying to remember something and forgetting, losing track of thoughts, or even forgetting to turn the stove off. I can actually keep my schedule in my head with this stuff!

EDIT:
So, does anyone know of the best way to structure the study, and have ideas of information to collect?

Well, this study is specifically targeting cancers, but I can always add in a question when people go to give their results. I have some hericium with me right here in a petri (thanks to foragedfungus on this forum), so I'm happy to grow it out for the study.

As for a study directly having to do with memory, I could always begin a side study using the platform being made for this one, but I would need help in finding a way to attract people to the study. Cancer has obvious sources of patients. If you have any ideas, I'm happy to hear you out.

EDIT:
Heya guys, any idea what points of data to collect for the study?

If you wish to do a try study you will have to do tinctures of just one strain, then combinations, then combinations with CBD, and, sadly enough, placebo tinctures. You would also have to closely monitor diet, activity, and surroundings of your testees. Sounds like quite the undertaking.

Yeah, it was much easier to do studies when I was working in a rat lab. Back then, I was working on a study for addiction, and how it could be cured using transcranial magnetic stimulation.

As a part of this study, I plan to collect copies of the paperwork (with the patients' permission) when the doctors check for cancer on as many cases as I can.

You're recommendation for diet is a big one. Due to cancer not surviving well in an alkalized body, this could be a huge factor.

Thank you for your recommendations.

I've got 6 hours a day to put toward the study. Due to my lifestyle, I'm used to taking on multiple large undertakings at a time. When one is done, I usually have a replacement within a week. I take 200mg of modafinil a day, if you know what that stuff is. If so, it will explain how I can pull this off.
