-------------------- I have picked wild mushrooms for over 30 yrs. I built a grow room for mushrooms in the early 90's and grew oyster mushrooms with great success for the first attempt. Out of 20 bales i only had to throw 3 out because of contamination. Now i want to grow again. I currently have King and Blue oyster mushrooms in the GC. The mycelium is going nuts. It is growing through the cardboard boxes i used. I also have some in plastic bins and one container growing on cardboard. In two containers the mycelium is like cotton and over an inch tall....

start spores on agar, make LC from clean inoculant. LC made from spores is a terrible idea.
it can take more than 6 days to germinate spores.
light is beneficial at all stages of growth. keeping things in the dark is antique and wrong advice.

Babalooey, no need to buy another spore print yet, you have enough spores to supply the entire country of south korea with those 8ml you have left. Read up on agar, it only takes a drop if the spores are viable. gL

ambient light from day one is optimal. once fruiting hits is when you want direct.
move the lamp away from the jar so it is not heating it. optimal light is 6500k
a lot of People have grown in the dark and still have fruits just not as many.
they will be fine just keep the light on 12 hours a day here on out and you'll be good. optimal temp is room temp 65-80 f
pasty plates are a great place to start agar but try the petris too to see which you prefer. Pasty Plates

Bad op not that spores to lc is going to fail just give it time. Agar is a good way. But why im mad is 2ml of spores to lc. A drop or 1/4th ml is perfect. Hell no one like the idea on here but adding a few drops of spore to a grain jar and letting that grow out. Then tranfers each grain to its own plate. Clean them up as you go. Ten good plates can be tranfered every six months to keep a culture on hand for as long as you live.

Maybe i actually have some progress with the P. Cyans LC...please see pics below. Is that mycelium growing in the jar at the bottom? The oyster LC is like a white cotton cloud. http://
