Fruiting a cased monotub?
    #23576248 - 08/25/16 02:16 PM (7 years, 5 months ago)

ok so i gotta know :P
been searching and i saw recent post about fruiting imidietly.
so the question is.
if i mix coir and spawn then add a layer on top as casing imidietly
is it then recomended to wait and collonize untill the casing included is white and looks all white over?
or is it just the same to introduce fruiting imidietly when doing this with casing of coir?

when this is a MC and spawn is Rye grain or any grain sub?

You shouldn't introduce anything to fruiting conditions immediately after mixing spawn and substrate. You have another colonization time to wait. Otherwise you will fruit contaminates.  You can case them but it seems to be trivial whether or not the vermiculite casing layer does anything because mushrooms will fruit to a very similar extent both with and without.

You have to Wait for mycelium to form before introducing it to fruiting conditions regardless of adding a casing layer. Your casing layer might get partially white, but it should be lacking in nutrients so that it will never turn all white.

You can spawn then right into fruiting it cuts times down but I guess it hurts yield and flushes but it takes about two to three weeks off your grow time ... you can either wait till the sub is fully clonoized then add your casing and fruit a few days later or add a little bit more casing then you would and right into fruiting if you have two tubs do side by side and see what you likebest.... and my casing layer usually always gets fully colonized atleast with penis envy

Let your spawn and substrate colonize:

Add a casing layer:

Introduce to Fruiting conditions or allow casing to get partially colonized like i do first:

both ways work. its always helpful if you name the ingredients you use, I would treat a peat casing layer differently than a coir casing layer f.ex.

think im struggeling with abit of too much impatience and a bit of worriesom from my own grow :P

since it is a mono tub that might have bacteria or as i can quote another user on the forum who said i had "mad bacteria" :P

now my tub who is mixed 4 liter water into 1 brick coir and 4.5 kilo spawn that might had "mad bacteria" now has gotten few white spots on the casing layer 4 days after.

yes i know it looks stupid and yes i already regret my "design" faaaail :P

and a little worried i ask too much :P
